Down She GOES!!!
Down She GOES!!!
well.....i was driving to my friends house today (about 5 blocks away). i pulled up to a stop sign...took off kinda slow...got up to like 4500...and BAM. the RPMs just drop down to idle and i barely pull off into a parking lot before it dies compleatly...all i could say is "this car only has 2000 miles on it, WTF". I waited a few minutes...checked for any leaks or anything out of the usual...went to start it up and it turned over but it wouldnt start. My friend showed up about 10 mins later and i cranked it again, it started and i drove it home....im gettin it to the dealer in the morning. prior to this the only thing it has ever done wierd is when my dad was doin 140 on the highway and it threw a CEL...dont know if this has anything to do with it....but i hope this crap doesent happen again.

From what I have heard from others on here includeing techs, the computer doesn't store anything unless something bad happened during or immediatly after.
And what did your Dad do to it that could cause that?

lol no it holds alot of information, eveything from average speed, top speed, time spent above a certain speed, rpm, accleration habbits, braking habits, even how often the driver wears a seatbelt. It holds this anywhere from 6-8 months depending on how much the car is driven.
Only thing is, i dont believe GM is allowed to hold that against you, its more so for polling and data gathering.

The "BLACK BOX" records data for a 5 to 10 second time period before the deployment of the air bags. If the air bags don't go off they have no way to know when to record.
Don't worry theres no way they can flip some magic switch and see everything you've done in the past 2000 or how many ever miles!

on the way home I had a check engine light & when I got home I got my scanner & started the car & the light was gone ????
I'd just hate to have this happen entering an interstate or freeway
The car has been fine since & I have driven alot harder than when it did happen so I was baffeled as to what actually caused it to do it???
