e-brake?
e-brake?
tonight on my way home i was doing some "spirited driving" and since it rained i was trying to get my back-end to slide out a bit by pulling the e-brake around corners in my neighborhood...it simply doesnt do anything. the only time ive tried this in my cobalt was in the snow and i got the car to slide nicely in the snow, but why doesnt it work in the rain or on wet ground? in my maxima i could pull that e-brake and my back-end would slide out easily...dry, wet, icey. whats the deal with the cobalt? did chevy do something to the e-brake to prevent it from engaging while in motion? just curious
Second of all, in your neighborhood?
Well, if you pull your ebrake, do the rear wheels lock? i know on my buddies ss/sc his cant even hold his car at a 5 degree incline. Mine on the other hand will allow me to do stuff like that but i have never done it on a road where anyone was remotely close by.

my neighborhood at 11:30 at night and a very wide road, no parked cars, no other driving cars. it was safe, and my ebrake does hold on an incline, in just doesnt seem to lock while im moving. its probably something chevy did on purpose
I dont see how you can consider it "safe"...
Well, the only cars whos e-brakes actually hold worth a damn is the 2.2's with the drum rear brakes.
My 2.4 SS (As well as the 2.0's) have disc brakes...and they dont hold for ****.
Ive noticed they only lock up IF you turn the wheel hard to one direction.
So if your in a wide open parking lot....pull it and turn your wheel hard to one direction...and it should be what your looking for.

i remember on my 21st birthday, it was raining and i was in a rental car (ford focus) and i was pullin on the e-brake and fish tailing all over the place in the parking lot. it was fun, but i would NEVER do anything like that to my car.. i actually pay for that 12 times a year....
it locks up your rear wheels and uses your rear brakes. Funny story, my friend is like a hardcore winter drifter, and hes damn good at it. He does it so much that when he went into the shop for warrranty work, the guy mentioned that it was extremely odd that his rear brakes were worn down more than his front brakes were (cars are all front brake biased). the guy totally knew that he was drifting but didnt mention it to my friend since his parents were there, only gave him the knowing look lol.

I was turning left into my parking lot in the rain, not going fast, and I tried to whip out the rear end with the e-brake. I think I was going too slow, but the e brake locked the brakes quick, and I turned left sharply. I ran over the stop sign for opposing traffic to turn out of my lot. I damaged the bumper, blew a hole in my A/C compressor, ruined my radiator, and other mechanical damage. I didn't report it to my insurance, so I had to pay it all out of pocket. I was just being stupid, and I'll never do it again.
