Ecu Upgrades?
Ecu Upgrades?
Hi
I have done a search on tuning, upgrades and ecu chips. It seems like other than jet chips which offers 25hp gain with their simple plug in chip (and I have read all the stuff on HP), Is there no one else that offers a simple chip or ecu upgrade?? With the 2.0 Turbo there should be a fair amount of power that GM left on the table??
Any answers appreciated

Jet claims up to 25hp gain and I know with a turbo this can be done safely.

"Fair amount of power on the table"...well considering the fact that there's an internal wastegate I don't believe you can adjust boost with a boost controller so that's off the table unless you can do it in hp tuners which is possible. Um yeah...for the record, you shouldn't do anything to your car without understanding what it does. All "chips" are going to do is make you run leaner which in a turbocharged car is not a good idea if you're not monitoring your a/f ratio. If you mean something like a standalone unit with "maps" on it (ala Cobb for wrx)...not yet and maybe never.
I called them and they to have a chip for the 08 2.0 turbo. Still wondering why no one else has or makes a chip. Companies make them for audi, mbz, porche, vettes, etc etc. with great results. As far as HP is concerned I cannot find a phone number for them to talk to a real human.

chip? Chips are for eating.

You know or you think? The only real way to increase power significantly in a turbocharged vehicle is replacing the turbo or upping the boost at the wastegate which the jet chip is not capable of doing by any stretch of the imagination. That's what a boost controller is for...it's moot on the lnf unless you swap exhaust manifolds, turbo, and add an external wastegate, as far as I KNOW.

I KNOW what they told me. There is a full re mapping and in there is a 3psi increase. This is what I KNOW. Some of what you KNOW is actually informative, though the tone of the post sucks
I'm sure the turbo can handle at least a 25 whp increase. Hahn's increased more than that, I believe.
I'd just say to wait a couple of months - but start bugging vendors you're interested in to look into working on a solution.
You've got to remember this a brand new system in terms of Chevy.. Chevy has never before had a direct injection turbocharged vvt 4-cylinder.. It'll take these companies a little bit of time to figure it out, hell the car hasn't even been out 6 months yet.
Best bet right now is Hahn. They are also extremely knowledgeable and were the first to 'crack' the stock tune, and can even probably tell you a lot of the benefits of a PCM tune (which is what they sell) and a chip (which is a term for bullshit ebay stuff).
