Take out the dipstick and pull gently. It should come off rather easily, otherwise just give it a few wiggles while pulling gently.....replace the dipstick when your done, please.

It's really that easy? I thought there were screws or something. So how is the thing connected? (2.4 but prolly the same design).

Remove the oil fill cap (dont drop it)

yank up on the cover on the right (passenger) rear and the left (drivers) front

side of the engine. You will see the rubber inserts on the under side of the cover

that press onto the little posts that stick up.

easy, no prab.

ok but now there is this thing and i dont know what it is... its connected to the engine somehow but i dont see why or where except the air filter. here is a pic

http://us.autos1.yimg.com/img.autos...._9_346x270.jpg

its not the engine cover itself. its the lower left part connected to the air filter. what is that?

Its held on there by two little posts... when you take off the oil cap, and take out the dipstick it should just slide off... It did on my 2.2 at least!

The air box?

I take it you went and got an intake.

It's really easy...

remove the lid over the stock filter... the lower air box is a couple of bolts and a star bit screw... the rest is just held on with hose clamps...

get a wrench and a screw driver and go to town.

That might help.... that's after removal....

Heh... that ugly front piece is part of the adapter for the throttle body... it sucks... kills airflow like mad... but yeah... ya' have to get an intake to replace it.

Hey cirrus I have the EXACT same cobalt as you, same color, and rims. I can't tell if yours is the LT, but that would be mine. Only difference is that I have the XM satellite reciever on the top and no sunroof

I believe his car is actually an '05 LS, which is equivalent to an '06 LT. I have one just like his/yours too, but no sunroof or XM.
