Engine Plastic!!!!

As the title says, who removes their engine shrouds? It looks like 20 lbs of plastic under that hood. Wouldnt it also heat the engine up more? And is it safe to remove it?

i think its more like 2 pounds of plastic and yes its ok to get rid of it..
