Evo X to 2010 Cobolt SS

Hey what's up guys? New to the forum. So im strongly considering trading in my 2008 Evo X triple S package

making 340 whp/340tq. For a 2010 Cobolt SS. There is one forsale in my area. Fully loaded 69000 miles for

$14400. Its at a dealership. Im looking at purchasing a home soon and the maintenence cost on the Evo are

just to much, also I would like a lower car payment. Will this be a down grade? Im worried I wont enjoy the

Cobolt near as much as I do my Evo now... Anyone have an Evo and a Cobolt have any incite for me? Any help

would be very appreciated. Thanks guys.

I went from a Cobalt to Evo X. People call me crazy but I'd rather have a Cobalt if I had the choice

True, but in terms of bang for the buck the Cobalt wins. He's looking for lower car payments and cheaper maintenance this is where it's at. The cobalt can be made to be just as fast with similar bolt ons and tune. It might not handle as well as the Evo X, but it's one of the best if not the best handling FWD cars to date. I love my cobalt, but I wouldn't mind having and evo if I had the funds of course. Story short, the cobalt is a kick ass car and I don't think you'd regret it.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah I'd love to keep it but, with the home purchase it would be nice to get into a cheaper car. And I seem to keep going back to the cobalt ss... I feel like for the price its my best bet. I can't imagine the maintenance would be to high. Not like my Evo that is...

That price is honestly kinda high too, much cheaper than any Evo X though I'm sure. Plus better on gas, cheaper insurance, and still quick (from a roll haha).

I went the other way, from an 08 SS to a IX. No regrets. The cobalt was fun, and easy on power, but traction on FWD is a bitch, you'll miss that AWD traction. And what kind of maintenance costs can you possibly have that the cobalt won't, other than gas? Only difference I had going from the balt to the Evo is the timing belt. And of course drivetrain fluids, but you don't change those often.

i'm sure you will enjoy the cobalt. different car but still very fun! maintenance costs might not be that much cheaper though.


it is cheaper on gas and insurance though.

The Cobalt is a fun car. Fast too. My tuned SS beat an Evo X pretty decent, so you'll still be able to go fast and whatnot.

From what I've seen around...if your into modding, the lnf can be pretty quick for pretty cheap. Personally I'd keep the evo but the cobalt is a fun daily driver that isn't that bad on gas as long as you keep your foot off the pedal!

Evo is great in straight line, but cobalt can destroy it on a road course. You will have equal fun with both cars and save money with the cobalt.

I have a 2009 CSS w/ some powell track parts, dp, gmstage 1. Car rips up the autox and hill climbs. I took out some sti's and evo's. Easy to hang with them.

I drove a evo X slightly modded. Fast, but big and heavy feeling. Loved the traction. BUT both are fantastic cars for driving. The evo is a rough ride, but the CSS has no amenities. If you want a drivers car, the CSS will be perfect. And I know what you mean. I just bought a house as well...mother of pearl does your money disappear. I think you will like it

But Holly torque steer! I've only owner rwd and awd never front. So that I would have to get used to. I was

Really happy with the offer they were willing to give me on my Evo. But I feel their price for the Cobalt is to

High. It's $14400. Yeah it's fully loaded, 1 owner, no accidents. But it has 70000 miles. So what do you guys

Think? Should I keep shopping around?

considering how easy you can make those same or higher numbers happen in a turbo cobalt its not much of a downgrade... i mean sure it has a plastic interior... but so does the evo.

for the lower insurance/car payment/gas mileage/maitenance its definately a good downgrade. then again i haven't had an evo yet

For a 2010, that's not too bad, it does have a lot of miles though. I'd say if you can talk them down to $14k even then it'd be worth it.

Also, have you checked insurance yet? My insurance on my balt was more than it is for my evo oddly enough.

No I have to call my insurance company yet. That's interesting surprised the cobalt is more. With that meny miles is there any maintenance I should consider?

Bought my 08 Last June for 14,700 before tax with 19,000kms/11,xxxmiles. No haggling bought it over the phone.

I'd try to haggle for sure.

Keep looking or offer less. I have a 2009 loaded with 37k miles and I bet I could maybe get $14k. Did you enter the car into nada and see about a value? Oh oh make sure it has the g85 option. That is the real LSD, you'll want that
