Failed Inspection HELP!!

Alright so my cobalt failed because of my DC sport exhaust having "excessive noise" and mt tail lights "arnt the right color" so i need help!!

For my exhaust do the silencers work at all? or am i going to have to sell my exhaust and put my stock one back one? Is there any way to make my DC sport cat abck and my stock muffler interchangeable by like 2 bolts so i can swap mufflers out?

My tail lights can i jsut wetsand the nightshades off? or will that sand the red off as well?

Is the DC exhaust much louder than the corsa or magnaflow?

How did you not "pass" were u pulled over?

Fight it in court.

If you're talking about Emissions or something then u shouldn't have to worry about that for 5 yrs min.

Doh my "good luck" didn't help eh? Sucks man, if I were you I'd tell them I want a decible reading and proof of what the state limit is. Tail-light tint you really can't do much about as far as passing. I'm sure some wetsanding will take it off, and not damage the lense itself.

throw a silencer in the end of your muffler and borrow someone's taillights for a couple days

dont take it to a dealership for inspection. try a private garage and see what they can do. its always good to know someone i guess.

you'd be surprised at how well the silencer will suppress it. i had one for the 3" single exhaust I had on the Z. without the silencer, my friends have said it made their windshields shake when i was in front of them and accelerating. with it in for daily driving it was just right and i passed inspection just fine.

That's what I did when I got pulled over in my Mustang for doing a 3 gear smokeshow and had to do the inspection thing.

Yeah, go somewhere where they can actually read the decibel output. Unless you removed material from it before you put it on, you should be within the legal limits. MOST (not all) aftermarket exhausts usually conform to the lowest state max. Corsa I know is an exception, because that was one of the reasons (aside from personal preference) that there's both a touring and a sport, because the sport was too loud in some states.

Ya because "sounds too loud" is awfully subjective and state inspections have a rule for EVERYTHING, a HUGE rule book, so tell them you want a decible reading, or they're full of ****.

Nothing in an inspection should be subjective, it either doesn't fall under the rule and fails, or passes. They're just trying to be dicks.

Yep. And the other perk to going someplace where they can give you an exact readout on paper is that you can keep that in your glovebox. Then, down the road when a cop decides to be a tool (and sooner or later one will) and pull you over because HE thinks your exhaust is too loud, you can show him you have documented proof that it conforms to state standards, so he can go suck a big one.

In NH you have to have a yearly inspection done for all those who don't know. They also do an emissions test that is hooked up to your OBD2 port.

A silencer will dramatically quiet your exhaust. Have someone dB test it. 95 db's is the max limit for New Hampshire (I am from NH, see my plates). I thought the new DC ehausts passed the under 95 db test, but I could be wrong. Get the silencer, and that should do it for you. The tail lights are up to you man.

^^^ that's how it is in NY too, but nothing is subjective, everything is judge by a rule...no getting around it

PA is the same way. Annual inspection and emissions test. And ours is pretty damn strict :/

How dark are your tail lights ? As far as i know tail lights dont have to be red but only have to lite up 'redish' and still be 'reflective' somewhat. Dont let anybody push you around fight long enough and most people will cut you some slack, if not go to a judge.

wow, I've neevr heard of a dealer threatening to turn a customer into the state because THEY THINK your exhaust is too loud! For one, that's a horrible way to get customers, and two, they have no idea if it's too loud unless they have a decibel meter.

that sux man....those dealers definately sound like dicks...which one did u go too? Good luck with the other garage they should pass u....and the dc sport exhaust does meet the 95db rule...I would've definately asked for a meter reading to prove it.
