Farewell my fellow Cobalters!
Dear Fellow SS.Net Members,
It comes with both great pleasure and sadness that I am leaving the Cobalt faithful after 4 longs years of ownership. My lease is up and I have moved upwards and onwards to a bigger, better, and more badass ride. The "Joebalt" as it was affectionately called was a great car, although it had it's quirks, it served me well for 4 years of college in FL. I have graduated, moved back to New York, and got a job in the Aftermarket working for a very well respected parts manufacturer as a Product Specialist which has given me the means to move away from the subcompact realm of the Cobalt into something far more powerful.
I am now the proud new owner of a 2008 G8 GT in Liquid Red with a two-tone Onyx/Red interior. I almost bought a 2009 SS Turbo since right now, there are some great prices on them, albeit a short supply. An odd twist of events lead the Cadillac dealership my father works for to buy back my 08 GT last Saturday from a 21 year old who bought it brand new in April as a leftover 08 model. He couldn't afford the insurance and was forced to trade it in with a squeaky clean 2900 (that's right twenty nine hundred) miles on it. They offered me a stupid deal on it and I jumped at it. I know it's an auto but man is this car an animal. It's loaded and extremely clean.
So in conclusion I just want to thank all of the CobaltSS.Net users who over those 4 years were the source of so much information and advice. I'll be cruising on G8 Board as
"1 GR8 G8" so if you see me shoot me a line. Thanks again.
-Joe

But I guess your right. Lets see here....
Heres what the G8 cant do...
The G8 cant do:
1# awd donuts
2# break transfer cases
3# sound like a tractor
4# be as expensive to modify
5# as difficult to work on
6# get high school freshmen guys to nut all over it
7# ride as roughly
8# have the intake soundtrack of a blender
9# break its front driveshafts
10# have a drivetrain thats less efficent
11# share a motor with a hyundai
12# run high rpms on the highway in top gear
The G8 was highly regarded and won several of the comparos in its class.
The G8 is the car every magazine hoped gm would bring over to the chevy side. But now with the caprice dead to the public and the cops only getting the extended wheel base version it looks like gm made another blunder from down under....
Sorry id gladly take a G8 over a cobalt....
Thanks to all the supporters and to all of the guys who don't think I made a good choice...the car cost me $22k with 2910 miles on it, that's $10k off sticker. I couldn't pass that up. Plus I drove a cobalt for 4 years when I sat in the SS/TC it felt pretty much like the same car (although it had far more aggressive seats and is an incredible car mechanically.) The G8 is an entirely different animal. Put it this way, I took it into the back lot of the dealership to park it when I was done and I threw it in neutral and just revved the hell out the engine. It set off 4 car alarms in the dealership next door. I was sold. I'll post some pics after I pick it up Thursday and you guys tell me what you think. Thanks again guys.
On another note, I haven't been on the forums the past couple years as much as I was the first 2 and I can't believe how much it's grown. I'm one of the original 5k members. Crazy. LOL

The G8 is a much more grownup car of much higher quality. Is it an awd tractor that sounds like a blender when floored like the evo? Nope
the EVO has its place. However Ive never been a fan of them or the nutswinging fan boys of them. Even driven several and still didnt like them.
