Fastest Street Drivin Cobalt?

So, you guys are competition for my car in stock form I guess. Just out of curiosity, what ths best time you guys have produced? We just had a SRT do 10.89@129, and a few cars have trapped over 130. I havn't seen any time slip database on here, so I'm curious to know what the fastest car is.

right now the only person to claims of at least touching 13's is Tofu, we are slowly getting power adders. There maybe more users that are in the 13's but cannot verify until they are on the track.

As for a Cobalt that is built for Track purposes there is one that does 8's (Gary Gardella) and another that does 12's (Erica Notica).

Woah, I thought there would be at least a few 12 sec SS's.

Considering GM hasn't released kits yet (2nd year now).. and 3rd party vendors are stepping in with new ideas a street driven car hasn't touch 12's yet that I am fully aware. I'm sure it will happen this summer though.

Stage II from GM should put us into mid-13s. Once the aftermarket steals the codes from the re-flash, we'll be way faster.

flame on srt fan boy lol. our car has only been out for a year now. how long has the srt been out? how many aftermarket parts are on the srt that trapped 130??? exactly if we had the aftermarket that you guys had we would definately be in the same range as the srt.

I dont think he meant that in the disrespectful way ... at least that’s not how I read it ...lets not turn this into a flame war. I think he was just looking for info

I'm sure there will be a comment worth flaming soon (knowing how SRT / SS threads go)....

They're both awesome cars each with advantages and disadvantages.

Ex: SRT-4 = Ugly

SS = Sexy

SRT-4 = Fast

SS = Getting there

well, the main thing the other cars have to understand is that we are a brand new platform still and we have no real tuning available to us since GM are being evil by not giving any aftermarket people the codes to break the ECU. give us some tuning ability and well be moving down the 1/4 mile no problem

Yeah, no flaming intended lol. I've seen Scions in the 12's so, I figured you guys would be at least in the 12's if not lower.

We still don't have that. AEM EMS will be out in a few weeks, but I'm just using a Emanage. Other people have DTEC or SAFC's. If you want a full standalone you can always put on a Tec3R.

We need a dry track. Most of us are waiting for summer to break some numbers.

movinviolation i will apologize for my comments seeing as u wernt flaming. but yeah i really wish we had a bigger aftermarket out there for parts. this car is going to be really fast once gay gm releases the ecu codes so we can tune this car the way it needs to be rather than using piggybacks.

Emanage is universal.

WHEN i talked to greddy, they informed me that e-manage will not work with the cobalts but they are looking into getting into the domestic market

Actually, there is a GM Performance Division Phase 5 cobalt that runs 10's. I'll have to scan the picture and post it.

Granted I am an RL but I am sure I can get this car into the 12s easily and trap well into the teens. I also own the SRT trapping in the 130s

Emanage has been tested on the Cobalt and does not work at all.

It is the fastest car that has ever been pulled over in the history of Ontario, Canada.

Different voltages and whatnot for the Cobalt that the Emange isn't setup for.

My best stock time was a 14.88 @ 97 mph w/ 87 oct & 102 degree track temps. My best up to date time is in my sig w/ a k&n cai and a carbon fiber hood.

The biggest single impedement for the SS's are the PCM . Until somebody , somewhere breaks the code in it ...you can only go so far with a piggy back or MafT . Its the bottleneck in the aftermarket right now ,I'd almost garantee it . As sensitive as the stock tune is , why would there be flood of hardcore parts if you cant properly tune the engine yet . But even still , there are some harcore stuff avail. now . JBP has varying degree's of cylinder heads , cams ect ect . Could a street driven 11 sec potential SS be built right now if u could have full control of the PCM , sure , I think so . 1 other thing to consider , is alot of us are just now starting to get our suspensions sorted out and finding the best way to hook the car up . Tofu has already went 13.80's with little mods at all . I dunno , I think the Cobalt will flex its muscles quite a bit more in the coming year .

Give us a break man .....the SS's havent even been out a full year I think . We need some time to catch up
