First things first

Just recently got a cobalt 2.4 Auto, car is completely stock, what are the first things I can do to my car to add some HP, while on a budget?

A new air intake is gonna add something. Either an SRI or a CAI

I second the air intake. Not because the small gains alone, but also because you'll LOVE the way it will sound with no resonating chambers on your intake. The biggest restriction iirc is the downpipe. You can search our classifieds for used or here is a new one from a reputable eBay seller.

You don't know what K&N is? Any place that sells car parts will sell K&N intakes.

For a premium. Like twice what an ebay piece would cost. eBay is the way to go.

Agreed on intake sound. These get pretty loud at WOT and sound pretty awesome. I was lucky and when I bought my car it already had the typhoon intake on it. Now that I remember that, I'm pretty sure that's what made my decision a little easier

I love my intake but if I did it again I'd skip that and probably just get a supercharger kit right away. I never got one and am pieceing together a turbo kit.

Also get a namebrand intake and not an eBay one. Please just trust me on this one, it'll save you quite a few headaches.

No, I know what K&N is, I was asking what are other good brands, basically which intake is the best bang for the buck?

A intake without a tune is pointless

You can buy name brands on eBay and still pay half of what any local autozone or advance wants.

I always get a car and start tampering with the exhaust right away...but that's just me.

That's like asking which politician to elect haha. If you don't want a raspy exhaust, use a glass pack in place of your current resonator, then choose any muffler you like. I have a cheap twin loop muffler and it sounds great. A lot of people like magnaflow and corsa.

I totally disagree with people liking magnaflow on Cobalts, most people dislike that system tremendously. Magnaflow is meant for big engine builds IMO

I currently got a ZZP 2.5" catback with lsj header and dp and like it a lot. I used to have a small glasspack in place of the muffler. I liked that a lot too until i broke it.
