Fuel injection cleaner....
I would like the opinions of some of the people on this board as to whether adding fuel injection cleaner to your gas tank is really helpful.
I have always made a habit of adding it to a full tank of gas ever few months and taking the care on the highway for a good run. I was told that this is a good practice to help clean out the fuel injection and will improve gas mileage and power.

IF you start using Fuel Injector Cleaner once maybe every 5-6K from the beggining of the cars life (under 10k) it'll help a little bit.
The best way to make sure your injectors stay good and clean are to use gas like SHELL V-Power

GM recommends NOT using fuel additives. They do recommend fuel brands with high end cleaners. There is an Service Bulletin out on this subject: 04-06-04-051B, Jan 2006.
"General Motors does not endorse, support, or acknowledge the need for fuel injector cleaning as a preventative maintenance procedure. Fuel injector cleaning is approved only when performed as directed by a published GM driveability or DTC diagnostic procedure."
Personnaly (IMO) if it helped keep the injectors clean then GM would recommend it, as they would probably have fewer service calls and would save money by not having to accomplish warranty work in this area. But, if it makes you feel better adding a cleaner -- GM sells PN 88861011, ACDelco PN 88861013, Canada PN88861012 for this purpose -- and they only recommend it at each oil change, not every fill-up..

Yup!
We also "listen" to the Field Engineers that come in and talk like they know everything, so once they leave we fix it right while they tell us to do it wrong
