business tip 101
dont give a **** whats "necessary" in todays economy, be concerned on what people will pay money for.
what do people pay money for? horsepower, nuff said.
they have been making 4 doro sports cars for years. the amount of doors you have should not make it a sports car or not
why not? the impala ss is a slighty faster model of an existing car making it possible to have an impala that serves its purpose. the g8 is its own entity that can only be refered to as a sports car sedan. i just can't figure out why you would need all that power in a full-sized 4 door sedan. similiar to the trailblazer ss, i think its a goodlooking fast vehicle but serves no purpose what so ever. people buy suv's for the space but complain about the mpg. the trailblazer ss is smaller in size than its base model and probably has the worst gas milage out of all the suv's and trucks on the market. so IMO the g8 and the trailblazer ss are both cool but are un-necessary to todays economic needs.

And this arguement squashes your theory dead . People with families that cant own both a sports car and family car or simply dont want to ...drive these "meaningless" sport sedans and SUV's . If I had a wife and kids , hell yeah a G8 GT would get the nod . Haul the kiddies around throughout the week and throw a pair of slicks in the huge ass trunk and go as fast as your wallet can afford at the strip on the weekend .

i dont see the point of buying a 4 door sedan with over 300 hp. dont get me wrong , i like the g8 idea but if you want sports car performance then get a sports car. i wouldn't buy a 6 seater if i was into speeding around town. it nice to have some accelleration and power in a sedan but you need to draw the line somewhere.

my point exactly
a 4 door sports car is more "practical" then a 2 door coupe..thus making it more "practical" for people buying it, thus increasing sales

who races around with their wife and kids in the car? i know plenty people who have the minivan on the street and a mustang in the driveway, or a tahoe to bring the kids to school and a corvette to wine & dine the wife on a saturday night with. mercedes and bmw onwners are idiots. anyone that spends over 60k to have electrical problems should reconsider ther buying tactics. people only buy benz and bms to be big shots and so they can say they own a bmw or a mercedez. few people buy those cars for the hp, technology or even the styling. its just easier to pick up a high school girl with a s500 than it is to pick one up with a camry.

would you rather spend more money on two completely different things? or spend less to have both things in one..
why spend lots on a corvette/minivan when u can have both in a g8??
Nor have I until now.
Highly unlikely.
To make my point clearer about the G6 that I tried making earlier, let's try this: Let's suppose the 2005 supercharged Cobalt had not been called SS. Let's say Chevy called it "Z20". Let's also suppose that said 2005 Cobalt did not have a front or rear lip, and had no high wing. Let's say the price was $22,000. Let's then hypothesize that the 2006 supercharged Cobalt was in fact called "SS", and had the high wing, with a $1,500 price increase to $23,500, but had the same LSJ with no power increase.
This would cause a slight uproar because the car was rebadged as supersport, without any performance increase. There were appearance increases, but performance of the LSJ was not upped. The 2006 SS Cobalt would then be considered a riced up 2005 Z20.
That is exactly what happened with the transition from the 07 GTP G6 to the 08 G6.
i didnt mention the m series, and amg because thats obviously models bought strictly for hp, but i see 100x more c230's than clk500 amg's and 200x more 330i's than m3/5's. i wanna hear your opinion when your kid pukes his cheerios in your 90k g500 wagon.
how can you have a corvette/minivan in a g8?
1. according to you the g8 is only a 5 seater. minivans can seat upto 7.
2. once the baby stroller is in the trunk, baby seat in back seat a g8 is no longer spacious
3. sports cars have 2 doors. welcome to the last 20 years.
4. last time i checked sports cars come standard with manual transmissions.
even if i wiped my ass with $100 dollar bills i wouldn't spare a few a month to buy a g8. it would not benefit any lifestyle i know of. so go buy your 4door hot rod. to each his own.

yep,no point in a 550i or a M5...no point in a A6 4.6 nor an S6...no point in an E 500 or a AMG E, no point in a CTS/STS-V nor an M45 nor an IS-F/IS350 nor a TL with 290hp...
right.
yep.
no point.
no market (eyeroll)
CobaltSS

Only problem with it right there, since styling is objective. It should be lighter, and be more competitive with the V6 Accord and do better against the V6 Altima as well (268 and 270 hp respectively).

Sorta like the never-made sunfire GXP. Remember it from Gran Turismo 4? It was a dark gunmetal grey color? Had nice wheels, a lip kit, etc. Never made it to production. But it was super nice. I don't know. I don't get paid to make those kind of decisions. But Pontiac has been getting the shaft lately.

Rims look like 00-02 Z24 wheels upsized, but interesting nonetheless.
The future is pretty bleak for the US G5. Its not listed as a 2009 model along with the G6, G8 and Vibe on the Pontiac order lines right now. Could change, but unlikely.
The Pontiac Alpha rwd car is also most likely going to be a Chevy at this point too.
Pontiac is getting the G8 Truck, and most likely getting the G8 Wagon. Theres a Solstice targa now, and a fixed roof coupe is expected as well, theyve got a lot of product coming, and its unlikely the Alpha would go to them as Chevy needs a new larger than Cobalt car as the malibu is SO much bigger now and is actually skimming Impala sales.

Personally, I think that if the new Camaro is even remotely a good seller, that Pontiac BETTER bring out a new Firebird/Trans Am. Seriously. If they don't.. That's RETARDED. That car got dropped at the peak of it's performance (along with the Camaro of course), but it needs brought back. I don't care how hick it is. Trans Am's are awesome.
