G85 Hold
G85 Hold
I know one person on this site claimed to recieve a G85 packaged SS. Has anyone else? Are there any that have shown up at any dealers?
I spoke to my dealer yesterday and she claimed Chevy is not building any with the G85 package yet. Is this BS? I ordered my car about 4 weeks ago and it still has not been accepted by GM.
What do you guys think? I'm not gonna be able to get a 2005, am I?
The way I understand things, if my order is not accepted by the 18th, I can't get a 2005? This is ridiculous. I ordered a freakin' month ago and that still doesn't ensure I get a 2005? Who should I blame for this? GM.. or my dealer for lying about allocation? I will need to get another car if I need to wait for the 2006's.. I don't have any AC on my car.

The May 18th date comes from this information that has been posted on the board in many topics:
The way I understand that is May 18th is it for 2005 allocation, so if it's not accepted then, I'm out of luck.

Now I'm just really angry. I wanted a 2005, but now I'll have to get the 2006. Do you think production will speed up at all once they begin the 2006's? I hope so, because I need my car before the end of this summer... Now I know for sure that I will have to wait longer...
G85 Hold
My SS/SC with G85 was accepted by GM March 30. Since then it has had several target production week dates, the most recent being 05/23/2005. The dealership staff concur with my belief that the production of the G85 option is being held. I don't think it is a true restrain because GM normally does not accept a vehicle for production if it includes an option that is on restraint, but who know the mysteries of ordering a vehicle? I've ordered jeeps in the past and had similar problems getting the order fulfilled because of a hold and I have ordered vehicles and had them arrive assembled and ready for me to sign weeks before expected.
The lease sites in the past have been good barometers on what is being held or produced, It was a lease site where IU first learned that 2005 MY Corvettes wold be prduced thru labor day weeks before the Chevy dealers confirmed it. So I still have hopes it will come as a 2005, and look at the rarity as a positive. -- Unionsmith

weird, cuz they got the exact car you are waiting for by my house, along with 5 others too on the same lot
i think there was/is a problem with the recaro seats... my car was built on 4/6, but 'held' for 'quality control'... i think they couldn't get the seats... i've emailed chevy customer assistance a few times asking for a reason for the hold, but told nothing... my dealer told me yesterday to stop emailing them... i guess they called him and told him to get me to stop... also, my car was changed to ready to ship... maybe i annoyed them enough? it should be here tomorrow... maybe...

I noticed you guys are new to the site, but you should know that people that ordered SS's back in October of 2004 are just getting theirs the last month or so. Don't get your panties in a bunch, because you are probably going to have to wait, especially if you ordered a G85 package. If you can't wait I recommend going to buy a different car. I doubt many G85's will make it into the 2005 model year.

Anyway, I have no problem with waiting, my problem is that I ordered a 2005 car and they aren't going to give me one and no one is actually going to tell me that anytime soon. I would not be complaining if my order was accepted. I don't care if I have to wait another month or two. I'm upset at the principle that they will not honor a 2005 order on a car placed 3 months before 2005 production ends.
Chevy is ahrd to figure out... I ordered my SS about 3 weeks ago and my dealer just called me yesterday and said the order went in fine and they should have the car about the start to middle of next month... Mine is FULLY LOADED everything except the smokers package

well what I figure is to wait a few months to order (since 2006 model will be starting soon) save some more money for down payment and put extra money towards my current payment and get it with in trade in value (own a 2002 lancer oz in the hole about 2g's) than order a 2006 ss/sc with g85 package(plan to autocross it on occasion when not running a 97 Tiburon FX) so what do you guys think of this plan everyone?
G85 Hold
Just finished talking to the salesperson at the dealer that has my order for a SS/SC g85 and he said three G85 equipped SS/SC's have been delivered: one each to Kentucky, Maryland and MIssissippi. He still thinks my order will be produced in May. What I am wondering is who here on the board has received their SS/SC with G85? Thanks for responding. -- laborsmith.

G85
I had been talking to a couple of dealers waiting for one of them to get an allocation. The place I ordered from got two allocations at the endof March so my order went in March 24 and went to status 2500 w/TPW 04/11 March 30. The TPW seemed to slip a week every week but has been 05/23 w/del 06/07 for two weeks now. I ordered a black ss/sc with performance package and side air bags. No OnStar: what GM did to the C6 Corvette owners for OnStar defies explanation as well as common sense. Compounded by the rufusal of either GM or OnStar to upgrade C6 OnStar to the newest generation. One can get the advanced OnStar on a 19000 dollar pickup but not on a 50000 dollar sports car! Go figure. -- laborsmith

^^^ You have to remember that there are TONS of base model coupes and sedans.... these are what sell and these are what they will concentrate on making.
They arent going to build a million SS's because the demand isnt out there... it might seem like it on this site and DUH its CObaltss.net of course everyone here wants it but thats nothing.
They arent going to slow down base production for a select SS market. The would go even more broke. Also GM usually always does this with any special trim the harder they make it to get at first the cooler and more rare it is and therefore more people want it.
Other than all that YES it sucks to wait but word around town is its worth the wait so sit back relax and wait for your SS

It's no surprise GM has lost millions. They obviously don't know what the hell they're doing. There is a point to making something hard to get. After it gets so hard, you just don't care nor want it anymore. If that other guy is correct , G85 was scrapped all together for '05. Pathetic.

They are definitely having problems with holds on it...
