Yupp. 3$ a week or so isn't going to break my bank. Repairs from having knock, and all other issues from being a cheap ass will.

If Ethanol continues to be subsidized that might be a cost saving alternative.

The old adage "You gotta pay to play" comes to mind. Do not buy a performance oriented car if you are super concerned about mileage and cost. If you want better mileage and cheap gas there are much better alternatives out there than running the risk of excessive knock (one of the two most damaging elements to an IC engine).

More like $2.50 tops. 93 is usually $.20 more then 87 and Cobalts have what, a 13 gallon tank?

The problem here is that this car is cheap, and it will be the cheap people that buy it.

I'd be DDing a C5 Z06 if I wasn't too cheap for the insurance.. I'm sure there aren't many that were on a budget that went out and said: "I want a performance car. Gee, I think I'll go buy a used Cobalt SS."

The majority of people who buy this car have the mindset of "how cheap can I go decently fast?" I don't see why everyone acts surprised when and 87 vs. 93 thread pops up...

Here's a good, recent example: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...r-size-243548/

Yep. I push mine until I get that low fuel light and then 40 miles after that. Always wind up with around 12.3 gallon fill-ups. Collected an assload of coffee mugs too.

$0.20 x 12 = 2.60

You could find $2.60 in pop cans. Is it really worth it to **** up your engine over the price of a single coney dog?

Check my signature...89-91 is ok, never tried or wanted to try any lower than this. Like Erod says, its how you drive, and apparently I'm a light footer as mid grade gets me better mileage than premium. No known tune in the 'puter.

Put the proper fuel in your car, or trade in for a scooter if you can't afford it.

If you think you're paying a lot for gas in this car, drive my grand prix. I'm saving the balt miles to drive a car that gets 20mpg. The extra $3 a tank is well worth it, and you could be driving something much worse. I'm more than willing to pay the price of gas to have the freedom to go where I want and enjoy my car.

get a hybrid or a yaris or prius if you wanna hyper-mile it! lol

Honestly, its borederline annoying hearing our gas compared to Europeans/overseas. Gas over there has ALWAYS been expensive as ****, hence why cars are the way they are over there (smaller engines, diesels, etc). Their gas didnt TRIPLE or QUADRUPLE in the last decade like ours has...

americans were used to paying about 1.20-1.40 before the war started (thats what i remember paying back in 01).

I'm not being a dick or anything here but CALGARY, ALBERTA isn't in europe or overseas. it's north of the 49th parallel. 10 years ago we were under 1.00 a liter so saying that our price didn't go up drastically is an understatement.

i wouldnt call us overseas

Seriously, gas is going up.Deal with it. My wifes Envoy XL gets half the mileage that my balt does thats why it isnt a daily driver. it goes a lot better with a trailer behind than the Cobalt does though. If you want to save the extra 2 or $3 per tank leave the car at home and walk sometimes.
