Unhappy Getting upset with my 06 Cobaltss

Ok first thing is, I bought this car knowing the muffler was hooped in some way(horrible rattleing either when its cold out or under certain rpm ) its getting fixed!! I have now noticed my pillar (the one behind the back passenger in the rear of the car) is seperating from the rest of the plastic or whatever the flubs back there!! My car has side curtain airbags so maybe it'll explode lol. Now also my motor is making a chirpin sound when u rev it just a bit, like when u chirp your tires but quieter, my friend thought it sounds cool and maybe its just a loose belt (I hope to god)!!! One more thing, I've had to replace a valve stem already on my rf wheel.. $20 BUCKS IS GOING ON? I definatly don't feel the quility I had with the Honda.. sorry guys maybe its just growing pains like what Ford went through with the Focus... AND just one more thing please...the 2.4 needs a higher octane!! my ss was slow accelerating with 87 octane, thank god 91 is only 1.05 a litre here in Red Deer. Sorry this was a bit long but maybe its the winter blues setting in. Any one want to adopt a Canadain boy so he can live somewhere warm???

Did you actually expect Honda quality from GM?

Well don't forget this is a new platform for GM and haven't worked out all the bugs yet. That's why we have warranties with our vehicles. Don't get too discouraged. The dealer should make everything right. I've had a couple problems with my 2005 SS/SC but the dealer fixed everything so i am happy. As far as the higher octane i know in my manual it says the SS/SC can use 87 octane but will lack some performance. I'm not too sure what it says in your 2.4L manual but that is definately weird because it's not boosted or anything where it would need the higher octane. But it could have a high compression ratio so that's probably why

Does the engine run? clutch engage and trans shift ?
That should be enough to make a GM owner happy....

On a serious note though.... None of those problems you listed seem really major.. Just take in to the dealer and get it fixed.. Its a man made machine and things are gonna break.. Thats what a warranty is for... If it makes your feel any better Im sure the new benzs I see everyday have more problems then your coby

BTW... Its 67F here in Phx... High today is gonna be 86F with an overnight low of 61F

No I wont adopt you...

i actually did........i proofed myself wrong once again.........my bro has a 7th gen civic.......and the quality of my cobalt is no where close.......initially it maybe close.......but after like 10k km ........i feel like mine is falling apart..........dont get me wrong.....i still like the car......but as far as quality......theres still a long way to catch up.......

some problems i can think of now:
sqeaking brake pedal - fixed
sqeaking doors
cracking interior wood (plastic) trims - partly fixed, still crack once in a while
rattling sunroof
sunroof trim fell off - glued, but rattles with bass turned up
leather seats wrinkles like its 7 years old - dealer told me every gm is like that ...including caddies
engine squeakes a lot when accelerating - new

these are just some of them i can think of now......but please dont get me wrong....i still like this car

Hey jzchev28, I once owned a 83 Honda with a gizzillion km's, that little cars body gave up before that motor even leaked a drop off oil let alone burned it.. (rest in piece little car), (some little ***** vandalized it way before its time should have ended).. I bought the Cobalt cause iI wanted more power and knew Honda wouldn't deliver unfortunatly!! so don't bump something till u've given something a chance.. I know the Cobalts new and I look forward to many yrs of owning it.. (this is my first domestic) ok no more posts this week from me,lol..

No problems what so ever with my 06 2.4L SS (Pike Weaton ordered the car incidentaly) Just filled her up with 94 octane today

My Dad is a Honda guy and my car is every bit as good as his Civic for fit/finsih/qaulity ect. But it wastes his in a race!

Sounds like you r problems are very minor but still a pain eh?

Considering the car costs just under $28,000, its a little annoying but damn its nice to have POWER and luxury, I mean luxury!!! Even my friend who owns a SRT-4 is impressed with it and he paid more for his car and really only got a more powerful car... hahaha and my payments are cheap too, $413 a month with 0 down and only my trade in...ok now this is my last post for awhile, lol hehehe

I haven't had any problems yet. At all. Comming from my other 2 cars being used, I'm so glad to have a warranty. My last car was an '89 Cadillac. wow. Every day something new would break. It eventually turned into a game. What fun.

however, my dad has an '04 Monte SS. That thing basically gets BEAT UP. My dad uses it for his work car. He drives a TON. He also has to go into some mills and stuff where the roads (or lack there of) are horrid. It's an '04 with well into 40k so far. Maybe more, I don't know. The only problem with it is bad seals. Like a ring job. We seemed to have gotten it fixed though. We love it. so I don't know what kind of GM problem you guys have, or why. Apparently consistancy isn't there. We haven't had anything else happen to that car even under those conditions.

Now my dads Ford truck he had beofre that. That was a different story...

The only thing i ever drove were chevs and i love them! 3 weeks after owning my cobalt SS/SC some old granny smacked my front end while i was waiting to turn left at an intersection. I was like oh no! This car is soooo not gonna run good anymore but ever since they fixed it (10 000 damage) The car runs great! No problems at all. Oh and for the muffler i had the same rattle noise and GM sent me a new resonator and no more noise

Actually, GM recommends 91 octane in all SS models, 2.4L and 2.0L.
