The GM discount that they are trying to sell the car for right not is not the Actual GM Discount. My Father works for GM and we bought a truck last year, brand new with all options. They wanted $31K for it brand new, so my bro used my fathers GM discount and it knocked it down to $23K. $8K knocked off of his truck. I recently(2 months ago) went to buy a Cobalt SSsat in there for my payment plan out and everything, then decided to go home and think about it for about a week or so(would've been my first brand new car). I would've payed $18.5K for a brand new cobalt SS if i used my Fathers GM discount. This wasn't a cheapy version of the ss either. It was an Arrival Blue SS s/c with xm, onstar, sunroof, oh and yes, it had ashtrays(like $15, ) So this was a 23.5K car band new with the GM discount it knocked roughly about 5K off. I recently quit my job, and looking to get another job soon, so i can get my SS S/C. I'm goin crazy over this car, and will hopefully have one parked in my garage ASAP. Your math is a lil off. If the truck was 31K new and u got it for 23K that is only 8K not 12K off. As far as it not being true I have to disagree. I purchased both my cobalt this month as well as a new Envoy Denali. I got about 9k off my Denali and about 4K off my SS. I just dont see how the discount could be anymore.
