GM Front end mask (bra) for SS

I just ordered one for my 07 ss. i got it for use on long trips, as i do these quite frequently. I plan on washing it with mild soap each time it gets wet, and make sure i clean it regularly even if it doesn't get wet.

I used the gm bra on my vette for the past couple years for long trips after i got the front fascia repainted due to all the rock chips. It is a great fit, no flapping, easy installation/ removal, and i never had any problems with it damaging the paint.

I am hoping for the same quality with the gm bra for the cobalt ss. Who has experience with it?

Where did you get yours? I really could have used one all last year. My front end is all fucked up--nicks, scratches, cracked lip, etc. You can't really tell unless you're up close, but *I* know about it. Do they come in colors, or are they just black?

they are just black. you can get them off ebay or GM Parts | GM Accessories | GM Parts House.

gm part #19202135

You could probably order one from the dealer too for a leg, an arm, and a left nut.

just make sure you are meticulous about cleaning it. I'd rather not use one at all than use a dirty one. They can be used in the rain also just fine. Just make sure u remove it and wash it afterwards.

Been thinking about putting a bra on the car since getting the front end repainted, but I think I'm going to go the 3M clear route.

The 3m clear bra is a FAR better option. It doesn't trap debris between the bra and paint, the paint fades evenly, doesn't make your car look tacky, and comes with a 5 year warranty against any defects in the film or installer error.

The Official Directory for Clear Bra Installers! Find a clear bra installer and protect your paint today!

You can check for an installer in your area there. If Premier Auto Detailing comes up, definitely give us a call. We'll cut you a deal if you mention the forum. And don't settle for a cheaper clear bra. 3m is the only one that has a warranty worth a damn.

the 3m clear bra is also no match for a quarter sized peice of gravel headed at your front fascia travelling 80 mph. thats why i use the gm bra. it protects against more than just bugs. when used CORRECTLY, it will NOT damaged the paint.

Actually it is. You can take a phillips screw driver to clear bra and you'll put about 5 inches of flex in it before it tears. It'll dent your car before it will damage the paint.

I skipped the bra with this car, and def the worst mistake I made. I drive mainly city, and my hood and bumper is freaking covered in rock chips... theyre hard to see, but like 10 said, I know theyre there.

saran wrap will do the same thing, but when mounted on a surface, its a completely different story. malleability does not equal hardness. take a knife and poke at it and see if it puts a dent in the car before it penetrates the clear bra. rocks can be sharper than a phillips head screw driver, and they are also impacting the surface, not just pushing on it. it protects against tiny pebbles, but not large rocks. thats what a real bra is for.

If you lived in michigan i think you would understand lol... our potholes are more like craters, and our pebbles are more like boulders.

I lived in michigan for 3 years and currently live in Ohio. Clear bra started in Denver. My RX-8 took a chunk of asphalt to the front bumper that a semi kicked up and the only damage was a scuff on the clear bra. It's way more durable than you would think. Point is, the damage that a normal bra is going to cause unless you're completely **** about it is far more severe than damage that may be caused by other sources when there's clear bra.
