GMPP sport exhaust.. My first impressions!

Well the rest of my exhaust came in today and rather than install it myself on the garage floor I opted to have the dealer install it (cheep because I work there ) But any ways, the install only took maybe 30 min with the lift and saw-zaw. After lowering it back down off the lift the mechanic started it up and reved it a bit, I was instantly dissapointed . I was expecting it to be louder! I pulled it out of the shop and got in on the road and my thoughts on the exhaust completely changed!! This exhaust just isnt loud when its not under a load. If you rev the exhaust while sitting it really isnt very loud, but while driving under WOT the exhaust is nice and deep and pretty dang loud. Overall I am VERY pleased with the exhaust. The install and fitment was perfect and the price wasnt half bad either! If you have any questions at all, just ask away! I will do my best to answer them quickly!

That's the way I like mine. Kinda quite while idling but ya notice it while driving. If it was loud at idle, it will be hard to order that burger at McD's

Congrats on your new exhaust. I have the Touring GMP and it is very quiet. I like it though for trips and lon drives. When full throttle it sounds great, mellow but deep.

I thought in the fast food thread we all realized fast food sucks, all of it! Homemade meals FTW!

Yeah, I had the exact same reaction as you. I was even slightly disappointed how quiet it seemed when driving. Over the next few days/weeks, it progressively got louder and now I am extremely happy with it. Congrats!

^HaHa! I paid 429 for the cat-back and tip plus 45$ for the install. Keep in mind I work at the dealership so prices may be a bit higher for you!

Thanks guys so far I am loving the exhaust!

You had to pay for yours? That sux. The only thing I paid for on both my cars is the window tint and stereo. ALL performance mods were given to me since I've been here for 12 years.

Yea I had to pay for mine lol I wasnt expecting to get anything for free. My dealership is all about making money even if it means overcharging employees.

Bro if you think it's loud under WOT now, wait untill it's broken in.

Congratulations man, you bought the best sounding exhaust available.

That's how it is at most places that I've been to. I didn't really expect to have it given to me. But if they are goin to front the bill, I'll let them But here it's kinda like a family oriented place where everybody will try and help out as much as they can. Even the main tech here. He's into high performance vehicles and drives a stock car at a local dirt track. He either does the installs for me or lets me borrow his stall and his tools for me to do it myself.

Back on track, I've noticed mine is a little louder than it was when I first installed it. Now my wife wants it on hers. So here in a week or 2 I'll be installing another Stage 2 and another GMPP sport exhaust.

Yea i get cost +10% on all parts at the dealer I work at. It just sucks not having any money tho. And the main tech here has a sc/gtp that he races so he can help me out with all sorts of advice when I get some dough to install. + he just got certified as a world class tech so I will be having him install all my stuff. and congrats on the exhaust cant wait till I can get one for my self

haha ^^^ Sport is a close second!! The highflow GMPP exhaust manifold also helps with the sound I found a bit.

Here is alittle up date - I just got back from about a 90 mile highway drive and these are my first impressions. Drone on the highway is VERY slight to non exsistant you ALLMOST cant tell it is on the car when the cruise is set. While driving between 2k and 3k (accelerating) it seems to be the loudest and DAMN is it deep!! I cant really tell how loud it is at WOT dude to the SC whine and normal motor noise but I assume it is very loud.

As for price, CED has the best price I have seen, their price is even lower than what I paid, but the price to ship or drive to pick it up would have added up to more than what I paid at my dealership. I was only charged like 40ish$ for the install and got the exhaust tip for 40$ so I saved some money on those two things compaired to CED. CED is one HELL of a deal tho!

That is a good question! I really dont know. Your current tip would have to be cut off then welded back on.

The performance is louder than the touring but both sound great IMO. You really cant go wrong with either of them. Some people will tell you that your wasting your money buying a GMPP catback but I feel it was money well spent!!

HP gains

The GMPP says a 12HP gain, I'm assuming thats on the SS/SC?

Anyone have dyno results before/after for the 2.2? Or 0-60 times from a G-tech etc?

Lets say I put a GMPP touring cat back on my 2007 2.2. Then later I add a header and pipe, will that be any real help? Or will I only gain another 1-2hp?

Would tuning it make much difference? Or are we only talking another 1-2hp again?

Thanks
Chris

header pipe and cat back would be around 20hp together + or - a few, every car is different

And tuning always helps!
