Got pulled over AGAIN

This time it was my fault.

I was delivering my newspapers at probably 4 AM or so, and there was a brand new RED (yes red! wow, didn't know the cops around here had them) Impala in front of me. I thought it was too nice to be going so slow, so I flashed him and passed him.

Then he followed me, and I was like, what the hell? This guy wants to race me or something.

That's when he pulled me over (I was going probably around 35 mph)

He basically just lectured me about how the speed limit is only 25 mph in the residential area and then slapped me on the wrist and let me go. After he checked to make sure he couldn't write me a ticket for anything else (License registration insurance)

He said "I could have written you a ticket just by pacing you! Our cars are professionally calibrated every 6 months!" But the guy was only "pacing" me for like 3 seconds because right when he put his lights on, I was already pulled over to throw another paper.

Can you get "paced" in 3 seconds?

The are getting more and more of the really well unmarked cop cars. I just saw one yesterday that was a black Expedition with chrome rims. Had someone pulled over with another cop and it had lights flashing in the front window.

To answer your question no 3 seconds is not long enough. Most states have a milage requierment and I doubt your state says a pace of 3 seconds at 35 is long enough. Basicly you pissed him off by flashing him like that is all.

My cop friend said in Missouri if you fight a pacing ticket then you should win. It's so hard to judge speed even by pacing. Cops FTL

Man... I'd be wary that any car just "cruising" around at 4 in the morning would be a cop. Ain't many peeps out then.

I honestly sped up more when I thought he was chasing me because I figured I pissed him off by flashing him and passing him, so I was trying to get away from him.

I could have argued that in court too, because he was scaring me and "pushing me" to go faster. The guy's license plate wasn't even a city license plate. It was bone stock bone normal, no yellow sticker, no badge, nothing.

I didn't think 3 seconds was long enough to pace me, which is why I just kept my mouth shut and let him lecture me. No warning, no ticket, nothing.

Love my Cobalt

I think you have to put on your four ways so they know you acknowledge that they're there and phone the cops and ask them if it is their car or someone faking a cop...

in co you have to pull over even if its unmarked, but you don't have to roll down the window for the officer. you can sit there and call 911 to confirm its a real cop or wait for a marked car.

but if you do that whats your chances of getting off with just a warning?

in all honesty if cops really wanted to crack down on street racing they should get a corwn vic, paint it like a green with gold flakes, toss a huge ass wing on it, guarantedd everyone who saw it would be like wtf is that guy thinking and try to race! ahaha

3 seconds is enough time to determine you were speeding. Actually, under certain circumstances a cop doesnt need a radar or to pace. They can determine you are speeding by watching you. You have to pull over for an unmarked car in any state. you do NOT have to pull the car over right away though. If you are unsure you call the police and make sure its really a cop, then pull over. Or you can wait till you are in a safer location to pull the vehicle over.
