Got a question about a speeding ticket

I got my ticket about 4 weeks ago, a few days ago I traded in my Equinox for a Cobalt....is there anyway to get this thrown out by saying "no officer i don't own a black equinox?"

lol, worth a shot, I saw the other guy's post. Got court in just a few short days...i'm so nervous

Doubt it, the ticket says 80 in a 45 work zone...that's 8 points and double fine. I took a class to knock off 4 points but they could still take my liscense away...

Tell the judge that you relized your error in ways and that you traded in your sports car and bought an suv. So that you wouldnt be tempted to speed. She might be a little more easy on you. just my 2 cents

What's this supposed to mean? My Equinox went almost as fast as your 2.0's lol
It was at the bottom of a hill, I needed to pass someone as my lane was about to end so I was already doing about 60 at the bottom of the hill (so was everyone else just about) but I had to pass or I'd have to jack up my brakes to stop and wait for a spot...dumb choice I know

Exactly! I totally forgot that worked for me! In high school, when getting out I did a burnout while leaving school (school zone) and plus there were cones around so that made it a construction zone as well. All I had to do was the online school after I wrote the judge how back I fucked up and that I was sorry and a B+ student and whatnot. Give it a try.

It's the opposite. He was speeding in the Equonox.

i got and 84 in a 65 and i had to get a lawyer but i dont think any state tolerates speeding in a work zone. Sorry to say but yu were asking for it dude. Thereare peoples lives involved in those zones its not a place to speed.

Just wanted to give everyone an update (since most do not and I personally always wonder about what happened to them):

I was instructed to take an 8 hour Safety Driving class (different from the 8 hour you take for your license, but similar in sense) and that basically knocks off 4 points from your license.

So I went in today, they must do all the traffic offenses at one time unless you plead not guilty and want a trial. I showed the DA my paper saying I took the class, he recommended I get a reduced rate, judge says "Do you plead Guilty?" I said Yes, and he says "$255, see the clerk"

WOWWWWWW

This was supposed to be 8 points and $795 fine...knocked it down to 0 points and $255 fine, which I can afford.
Damn, that was close...the way all my friends were talking about their situations that were similar, I was afraid I might lose my license. damn damn damn, that was so close. Sorry, had to tell someone.

/Vent lol

ya it helped that the town that i got the ticket in, does like a "all traffic offenses in one night" type of deal, where they try to squeeze 1000 ppl into 2 hours so of coarse if u ask to be plead down its not too hard. i kno this would not have happened if i had to go to city hall downtown lmao, they would prob raped me down there

well from my experience ( which I have no luck at all ) I got a ticket for 104 in a 45. Wreckless driving. Had to take 2, 8 hour classes ( 4 staturdays of my life ) 4 hours each day. Cost of total for the whole thing was around a grand ( Lawyer, court fees, fines , plus had to pay for the classes, they put I believe it was 10points on my license. However that was back in my younger years.. Learned my lesson. Oh did I mention they impounded my car and took me to jail. heh, yep was no fun at all. Will never do that again.

ya in NY if you're doing twice the speed limit they impoud ur car and arrest u for reckless driving...it sucks.

edit: the whole thing is a sham though, they put up fake "road construction" signs even tho no work is being done, just so they can double the fine, its all a scam to double the fine man

i have gotten a ticket in a "work zone" 93 in a 55. all i had to do was pay the ticket through the mail, and they only added $40 ticket the cost for it being in a "work zone". They wouldn't even let me take one of the classes to reduce the points that went on my license.
