I was driving to a field job in Moore Oklahoma and coming from the oncoming way is a police officer and a Hearse followed by a long line of cars. I pulled over and stopped, as you're supposed to do. The red truck that was behind me slammed on his brakes to stop because he wasn't paying attention (was watching him in my mirror). He ended up about a foot away from my bumper. The girl behind him wasn't paying attention either and didn't have ABS like the truck did. So she locked up the tires and slid into the truck at 40mph, which pushed the truck hard into me. The Cobalt took the hit well (black paint hides collision damage), the rear bumper is warped to hell and the trunk is hard to open and close. Just got back from the ER because I woke up this morning unable to move my neck and suffering from back pain. I’m currently goofy from the pain killers and muscle relaxers… I can hear my liver rotting.

I personally hate Moore Oklahoma, most of their drivers are young and complete idiots, or Mooron's (heh heh, get it). I was lucky enough to be passing through at 3:30, when West Moore High School let out. But I thought I share a pic I took of the car that hit the truck. It pushed the truck into the ditch after the truck knocked me 10 feet from where the Toyota is (wasn't in gear and let off the brake when I heard the tires lock). The rear driver side tire of the truck is what did the damage.

 

Well glad to hear that your ok other than the aches and pains of it all and hope they can get your car back to 100%.

if i heard tires screechign behind me, first thing i would do is put the car in gear and drive forward really fast. Why you only let off the e-brake and sit there waiting to be hit instead of trying to avoid it..is beyond me..

i almost rear ended my friend last night. we all met up at his house so we had like 4 cars of people going out to a party. The kid in front thought someone called his name so he backed up in the middle of the road. the eclipse (kid i raced in war storys) in front of me slamed on the brakes barling missing him then i locked up my breaks from like a 25-30 mph cuz we were about 50 feet from the kids drive way. Tires smoked up it was so bad. i was seriously inches away of hitting his whip. my heart droped out of my body . I was so scared i was gona crash again lol. but luckly i didnt. and thats how the night started. by the end of the night the kid in the truck backed into a poll. my friend got pulled over on the high way. we almost got arrested for trespassing at this haunted place. luckly they cancelled the police wagon. then we got pulled over again the night in hartford from state cops. i had to pour my coronas out. . but in the process when i was pouring them out on the side of the road using the guard rail to open the bottles i spayed both cops in the face with a beer. . i thought for sure i was going to the slammer. and for those wondering. i wasnt driving and our driver was sober.

 

That really sucks and I feel for you. I have been rear ended twice since I got my Cobalt. Both times at a dead stop with no where to go in front. The first time I was pushed into an explorer. The only good thing is that after almost a year since the first one the insurance company is willing to start dealing with me.

For one thing, there was scretching for about 2 seconds, then a colision. The truck was about an 1/8th of a mile behind me and the Toyota admitted to being even farther behind the truck. There is only so much you can do, after that its up to the drivers around you. My car wasn't in gear, the clutch wasn't in, and the ebrake wasn't on, I only had my foot on the brake barely. If I was in an automatic, yes maybe this could of been avoided.

A police officer saw the whole thing. Remember the hearse I pulled over for? Plus when 3 people are involved and 2 people have the same story and the 1 person at fault for both of them can't make her mind what happened while giving her side to the cop, I don't think I'll have problems with this insurance case.


I'll see if I can get up and take pictures of the Coblat either today or tomorrow.

The friggen cop probably wasn't going anywhere, he was probably too impatient to stay in his own lane. I hate how everyone bows down to cops because they're forced to. I think the state should pay for all the cars to get fixed since its their idiot that caused the accident.

Can you imagine paying respect to a deceased family member and you got some idiot that cant just freakin wait in line?

Just for 10 seconds pull your head out of your ass to read this, then you can put it back. IT'S LAW HERE TO PULL OVER AND STOP FOR A POLICE OFFICER THAT IS ESCORTING A HEARSE. YOU CAN STOP YOUR CAR AND PARK IT IN THE FAST LANE ON THE HIGHWAY AND IF SOMEONE HITS YOU ITS THEIR FAULT. THE DRIVER OF THE TOYOTA WAS ISSUED THE TICKET BECAUSE SHE WAS AT FAULT.
