I say just go in to the actual police station (Or wherever...) in person. Just not paying it could cause trouble.

Usually if anything is wrong that like they have to throw the ticket out... Or at least that's what I've heard.

Yea, not at the police station though. In court.

Yeah, cops have to scrutinize what they hand to you in the form of a ticket. If you go to court to fight it (if you can) then they should probably throw it out. If the cops here make any mistakes with their ticket, it gets tossed. Even if it doesn't get tossed, normally they'll make it a lower amount so it might be worth your while.

Yeah go to court house and have them look at it.I doubt they will throw it out though.Im pretty sure the only time they throw out tickets for wrong information are parking tickets. If you go to court and fight it for having the wrong info on it,the judge will say since you were driving the car, your guilty, even though they wrote the wrong plate number on it.

Doesn't matter dude. You still have to pay it. As long as they have your drivers license # on the ticket the plate could say mickey mouse and you could be driving a civic it says. It's still your ticket.

On your ticket it should tell you where to go to fight this ticket in court. Go there now!!! Don't wait to long or you can't do this. Tell them you're fighting this ticket. They will set a date for you........maybe a year from now I don't know. When you go to court you show them that this isn't your licence plate number. It will take 10 seconds for them to throw it out. Then go immediatly to the local bar and buy a round for your friends.

Always fight your tickets!!!!!!!!!! It's your right!!!!!! They have to find you guilty. The onus is on them to prove that you are guilty. An error like that on a ticket casts a reasonable doubt that it really was you that they clocked!!!!

I have Fought ALL my tickets and WON against the cops EVERY TIME... the song about fighting the law and the law won does not work with me...

I was clocked doing 75 in a 45mph construction zone, and I was doing that... I go to court and say, I had no clue I was doing that fast, I was just following traffic cause I would have been ran off the road. Officer Willis was so ******* pissed when she lost cause I was the only car on the road, and she couldn't prove it.

TWO years later I was weaving in and out of traffic by a school zone, trying to get around parked cars to pick up my brother... Now get this, was ticketed and told to go to court by non other than Officer Willis on the count of Reckless driving. I go, get a public defender cause the court wouldn't let me do this on my own... anyways, She had NO PROOF once again that I was reckless driving (which btw I wasn't, just trying to get around illegally parked cars on a two lane school zone road), and she was demoted from Corporal Willis to Officer again, cause she also submitted the recording cause I told the defender that she cussed at me... She hasn't been on the road since, she is stuck at a desk...

I've had a few speeding tickets, and the one "reckless driving ticket" non are on my record cause I fought the law.

Go FIGHT, MAKE UP SOME BS and YOU WILL WIN!!! 90% of the time.

Been pulled over and ticketed 7 times in the first four years of driving, and not one point on my license.

I should have been off the road years ago.

FIGHT For your Rights man

now i cant back this up at all but i have heard that if they write down the wrong licence number its pretty easy to get the ticket thrown out, but that is just what i heard, i am certainly not an expert.

I'd take it to court. Wouldn't hurt anything to try and have it tossed out. Good luck.

Don't have to sign!!!!! BTW I know for a fact here that ticket would be just a piece of paper...Judge would throw it right out. Also, if the cop doesn't show......you would also get off and even if you showed up and pleaded guilty with an explanation they will reduce it as long as you aren't in court every week!!!!!!

Everything seems to be a myth with Mr Sheep!!!!!!! So, Mr Sheep is telling you to just give up and take your lumps. Nevermind that you have rights and are innocent until proven guilty!!!!!

It is possibly different for each state there so you would have to check each state. I know here it wouldn't hold up. Have you been in that situation yourself???? BTW, you quoted another member here who stated that everyone should fight their tickets and I believe you said, and I quote,,"For every person like you there are 100 that fight and lose with ACTUAL evidence to back up their story. Their are tons of judges that will say NO MATTER WHAT, "pay the fine and have a nice day". ***********."

I think that's enough evidence against you and thanks for your support here!!!!

I wonder though..........by signing the ticket you are acknowledging that the officer presented the ticket to you but If it has somebody else's info on it how can you be responsible for someone else's ticket???? What happens if you refuse to sign?????

Exactly.

Yes, an incorrect driver's license number or a COMPLETELY wrong plate (not confusing 2's and z's like the OP said) increase the chance that you could be let off.

Your record is based on your driver's license, not your license plate.

Then don't offer the same advice to people in the US, because here it is completely different.

If they get numbers transposed on the ticket....still guilty.
If they get your name spelled wrong (has happened to me)....still guilty.
If they get minor details about your car wrong....still guilty.
If the cop doesn't show up, you can still be found guilty and it happens fairly frequently. You have to make a motion to the judge to dismiss for lack of prosecution and it's up to the judge to decide to accept or reject it.

Along with SheepHerder, I'm not saying give up and don't fight because he could still get it reduced. But he doesn't have a good reason to believe that it will be thrown completely out. The ticket was issued to his driver's license, so it will stand.

It is your responsibility to check and correct any misinformation at the scene when you are handed the ticket. Everything else you can fight in court as to whether or not the officer pulled over the right car.

Either contempt, failure to obey a direct order from an officer of law enforcement, or resisting arrest.
