Thumbs up Hard Pick (thoughts)

Hey everyone on cobalt ss.net

I have a hard choice, for starters im planning on getting a new car soon. And the cobalt SS/SC is one of the cars as my top pick. But this has been scewed because of the international car show that came to minneapolis today, as I walk in I first goto chevy to see what they have there for cars they have all the cars then I see the cobalt ss/sc. It a yellow one, I inspect the car get in and naturally I was impressed never actually sitting in one. But I looked at the car for like 15 mintues and its better than I ever thought. I asked one of the sales person if they have any in stock at there dealership, but he said he didnt have any SC ones. After I leave chevy i start looking around and i see the new Hyundai Tiburon. I was extremly impressed. The tiburon SE has always been something ive looked into getting. For starters the new headlights, tail lights, rims really surprised me. When I get in I was even more surprised cause I felt more comfortable and the interior seemed overall better. The seats I thought were really sweet with a two tone, and in the chevy I felt like my head was going to hit the roof where the tiburon seemed more roomy. Basically the new tiburon changed my whole perspective on the tiburon, now I have respect.

I know the tiburon is not a fast car by anymeans, and I know its made in Korea which sucks. But I felt the car was more put together than the SS. Dont get me wrong I love the SS, I still really like it.

But has anyone driven a tiburon or have any comments about the it, what to do or any info about the tiburon or SS that could help me, one key point though was they were almost exactly the same price and they both had sunroofs.

no but if you got to www.hyundaiusa.com, they have a like all the different colors and a bunch of pics.

I feel retarted cause i could have taken pics of the car itself, but i didnt bring a camera. But on the site it was the lighter color blue it looks sweet in person and the cross drilled brakes looks huge and sweet in person. But the seats were my favorite thing like a dark red and black seats they were super soft compared to the SS.

new tiburon looks too much like the old one for me. i would go by the price. most likely, the ss will be more bang for your buck. ill admit though, my cobalt isnt exactly the most well put togther, the interior that is.

if u dont mind the power then go for which ever one u think looks better.

Im willing to not have the power, for better interior, especially its the thing you have to look at while you drive the car. But supercharger does sound better then a 2.7L Delta V6. Another key is how fun the drive will be I know the tib wont be as fun when it comes to speed, but the 6-speed manual doesnt hurt the car, or the Tuned supension.

same, their body style just doesnt appeal to me...not to mention everyone that steps foot in my car absolutely falls in love, and tell me they feel cool inside of it (i dont know why?)

oh, and the seats are ridiculously comfortable on long trips. 4 hours sitting there, no problems. and the sound system is amazing stock. and the trim looks clean.

really, i didnt really like the seats, by the way how tall are you if you dont mind me asking cause when i got in i was really uncomfortable until I adjusted the seat all the way back but then i felt to far away from the wheel. and the yellow didnt do justice for me and they didnt have color inserts in it, but maybe a different color it would have been more attractive to me cause the tiburon caught my eye right away compared to the Cobalt. Both systems in the car seemed about the same but the tiburon had a kenwood head unit which was cool. Both with tweeters and stuff. I feel would have feel inlove right away if i didnt hit my head and the way you sit in the cobalt doesnt feel right it feels like im on a barstool compared to the tibby.

i'm faced with a similar situation, but i've got my choices between:

1. SS/SC
2. RSX type-S
3. '06 Civic Si
4. WRX
5. Jetta GLI
6. Tiburon GT V6

i like the SS/SC for the fact that it's a chevy, it's very sporty looking without being over-the-top, it's got a clean interior (but not the most attractive), i like the recaros in the G85 package, and it's got a hell of a motor. it easily feels the fastest out of all the cars that i've driven.

the tibby on the other hand, seems like it's a dime-a-dozen -- there's so many tiburons around by me that it makes me not want to get one. for a v6, i wanted more power than it has, and it seems a bit too heavy for a sportscar, plus it guzzles fuel compared to a lot of other cars in its class. it does have a liftback though which makes it have a bit more utility than the SS/SC, and its interior does kick ass.

both the SS/SC and the tiburon are pretty good deals for what you get, though. it all depends on what you want out of a car.

my pick though would be the cobalt!

^^^ Id have to agree with you 100%
Me i only buy CHEVYS and wouldnt give my money to any Korean Co.

But one thing i can say is Hyundia has improved over the years and its not a HON-DAH!!!!

But go with what your heart feels is best for you (Diplomat )and one thing i can say is the Torque is better than the Hon-Dah SI.

Good Luck

In minnesota where i live I know of only a few tiburons so its the oppisite here and I live in a town of 60,000

I have a list which is pretty close to yours just this way
1. Cobalt SS/SC
2. Tiburon SE V6
3. Dodge SRT-4
4. Mazda Rx-8
5. VW GTi
6. RSX-S
7. Scion TC ( by the way i was really disapointed by the Tc today it just wasnt what i expected at all)

was the tiburon you drove the 6-speed?

What makes you think that, give me some reasons why you feel that way.

I felt the same way when I first got in on in early '05. But then I found oput that there is a lever on the outer side of the seat that lowers the seat. When you lower it all the way to the floor there is tons of head room. I'm 6 foot btw
