has anyone tried thr NX intercooler kit

Here is a link http://www.modernperformance.com/pro...iversal_engine

Just seeing who out there has tried this kit, any gains on current tune without a retune after install? Was thinking about it.

I would not spend the money on that unless you do a lot of hot lap drag racing and need to cool down the intercooler on the drive back for the nest run. I don't see any crazy IAT2 temps on my car but i have a ZZP intercooler. If you are fully bolted and can't get E I'd recommend meth it will be way cheaper in the long run and be a way better bang for the buck so far I've been able to get 4-5* extra timing with my meth kit

E isn't readily available and not the ideal option to me so that's out..

But I'm not 100% on how meth works, and I literally just got tuned like a month ago so I'd have to get retuned, not something I can do I'd have to drive hour and half away to the shop for that...

Thanks for responding and the info!

Meth injection is a mixture of methanol and water that you spray into usually the coldpipe right before the throttle body. What this does is pulls heat from the incoming air, cleans our valves, lowers egts and increases the fuels octane. Like I said I was able to get another 4-5* of timing on my car when I turned back on my meth injection.

I hope that answers your question and if you have anything else let me know

Alright, and of course I would need a retune, and is the meth constantly being used when normal driving or do you flip a switch when you want to use it?

I have mine on all the time but you can wire it either way but if you do not have it on all the time you can't tune for it so I'd run only a small nozzle so it won't throw the trims off too much

Can you explain some more. I'm good with wiring. Would the nozzle go on the lower charge pipe? That was a big question if I could run it when I wanted to use it and not have to tune for it.

And is the boost switch something that is manual or electronic?

Goes in coldpipe

You can run it when you want but I recommend only a small nozzle so it doesn't trow off the fuel trims too much

The boost switch is just that a switch that will turn on the pump at the set psi you chose

What size nozzle and where can I find said switch?

Any recommendation on meth kit?

I'd go with the aem kit. with tuning up to 10gph or 625cc without 225-375cc max

I have the snow stg 2 kit but I think the aem has better features

Don't need a switch if you get the full kit

Say I get the kit and put it in and don't tune for it and say I have the psi set to 15 lbs. What do you think would happen if I ran out of meth in the tank but still hit 15lbs? Would the pump try to get meth to the motor and obviously there won't be any and nothing happens and the motor just does its normal thing like there is no meth cause there isn't? Lol

Haha what part of AZ you in? I'm going to visit a buddy for a week in a week. He's in Tucson, he's been telling me about a good car scene out there!

yes not tuned for it basically it'll just go back to normal. AEM say their pump can run dry and I have had mine go dry but I wouldn't do it for long if I get low I'll throw water or washer fluid in it until I get home

Ya but the more you run and if you're tuned for it where you get into trouble if you run the 225-375cc I don't think you'd have any problems even if it ran out and you were tuned for it

Yeah I'd run the smallest nozzle and set the boost to 15 psi so it wouldn't be a problem and probably last a good time

I use the washer bottle and have it tapped at the bottom to feed the pump so I can test if I have any with the washers if they work I have fluid if not pull over top her up. Yesterday the sprayers were weak but still worked so I knew it was getting low

Haha that'd a good idea but then you can't really use your washer fluid to clean your windshield?

Yes you can use the washers because winter fluid has methanol in it to keep it from freezing so you can use the -40 or -45 stuff of mix your own. I mix mine to 70% meth 30% water but 50/50 is most common

So you're saying I pick up a $2 bottle of windshield washer fluid and use it in my motor? Lol weird.

Yup I would add a bit of 100% meth to it to help get the ratio a bit higher but yes that's what it is
