Haters???
Haters???
I joined this board as a car enthusiast and I'll probably get flamed for my next comment.
When I read many messages on this board, I see many comments about Honda owners and frankly, I take exception to many. While there are ricers (generally assigned to Honda owners), I personally see them as "anyone" that screws up their car with shitty mods, unpainted body kits, goofy looking stickers etc.
I own an RSX. I don't hate Mustangs, SRT's or Cobalts. I'm interested in all of them regarding performance/quality for the money. The Cobalt was/is an idea that was right for the time. The compact performance market needed domestic competition and the SRT started it.
When slamming an import driver, remember that for many years import cars were the best place to purchase something that could be modded pretty easy, was readily affordable and had pretty good quality. Now with the SS and the SRT, I think you'll see some import owners jump ship as more mods become available etc.
Personally, if I were in the market for a car today, the SS would be one of my first test drives. Just my $.02.

Don't worry about getting flamed man, your post contained nothing objectionable.
Not to mention this board is very friendly, most of us are nice guys here
I also agree with the points you made in your post, almost any car can be "riced" out in some way, regardless of make or model. I prefer American made cars in general, but I can definitely appreciate a nice Japanese car, like the RSX Type-S. However, some people come on here just to troll for Imports, and in that case I'm quick to put them in their place

I have a Red Line and visit this site frequently but rarely post. I do post a little more on the Red Line forums. I do find more trolls over there, alot more. I don't understand why they come to pick fights. I usualy don't even get involved when it happens.
Although I couldn't resist this supposed STI owner who just doesn't know when to quit. He came straight to the kills section and started flaming. Of course we got the best of him, but it's ridiculous that it even happens.

I love cars and going to shows no matter what makes appear, heck I joined this forum intending on buying a cobalt ss. But, went the practical route and bought a truck, I still love coming and looking/reading about people getting the cobalt
Had One Never Do Again !

But Ya it seems like on a lot of the forums around the net there is some major hating going on ... Although I can see where a lot of people come from with the ricer hate.. 80% of the hondas out there just have big coffee cans and intakes on there lowly d series motors trying to race anything that they can get next to... This is coming from a person who just 1 1/2yrs ago lived and died by Honda...I was annoyed with it then and i get annoyed with it now...

Thanks, guys....I visit clubrsx quite frequently where there are some guys that hate anything that doesn't have an "A" badge on it. As I mentioned in my orginal post, I don't post must about not liking this car or that car (Aztecs and Solara's excluded). As my favorite shirt says......
Multi colored stickers.....................Free
Big Ass Aluminum Wing.................$300
Rattling Coffee Can Exhaust...........$250
Getting your ass handed to you by 350 Cubic Inches......PRICELESS
Still waiting to find an SS in NE Phoenix to play with. I know up front I probably won't keep up but just need to find out the degree of death I'll experience.

Ricers suck.
My roots go back to V8's, especially living where I do, but I have always been interested in getting mega-oomph out of smaller engines. I used to race a Ford Pinto with the uber-present 2.3L OHC engine. That was great. No one was ever expecting to see a Pinto with some 4cylinder muscle. Had the body not started to rot, that car would've ended up with a Turbo 4 out of an SVO/Merkur/T-coupe. After that, it was all J-bodies. I was and am a Cavalier fan. Those are the toughest little cars I have ever had. The horrible things that I have done to my J-bodies! And they still never broke!
Anyways, without getting misty, one rule still applies whether you are doing Mustangs or Cobalts... you either know what you are doing, are you don't. If you don't, you learn.
I don't mind the so-called 'foreign' cars, it's the morons that seem to end up with them that give the other folks a bad name!
