which headlights

hi guys, im wanting to change up my factory headlights on my 2010 ss Im thinking i wanna get projectors with an hid kit. is there any brands that i should stay away from or is there any that i should consider? Also most of these kits are low beam only. So what does that mean for the high beam? is it just the factory bulb?

1. Money or no money?
2. Benjamins or Jacksons?
3. High roller or cheapskate?

allpro666 Sep 23, 2015 10:37 PM

lol ya i would rather spend a little more and get something decent!

DFZ24 Sep 23, 2015 10:47 PM

what i meant is, what is your budget?
less than 200, 300, 400, or greater than 500?

allpro666 Sep 23, 2015 10:49 PM

Dont waste your money on projector headlights. Pay someone to build you retros or save some money and do it yourself. Aftermarket projector headlights have garbage light output. The stock reflector housings are better.

DFZ24 Sep 23, 2015 10:51 PM

on that price range, here are your options
all can come in silver or black
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appe...%7C%7C-203962/

you still need the h7 bulb for those and the hid kit. get a good one for right output and color.

400+ are for retrofits, that are the best but you need the dough
and customizable

Really ok I just liked the looks of the black ones. Not sure what u mean by building my factory ones but u suggest just putting a good hid kit in the factory ones?

Retros are a diy project? I guess no one sells complete units?

Snail_SS Sep 23, 2015 11:46 PM

There is a few guys that make them Bass_waves made mine. But you could make them

DFZ24 Sep 23, 2015 11:47 PM

like a i mentioned, they are 400+

Snail_SS Sep 23, 2015 11:50 PM

Yup but totally worth it

allpro666 Sep 24, 2015 08:24 AM

That is pretty pricey. I ll have to check into it thx

Fsanti87 Sep 24, 2015 03:46 PM

You gotta pay to play. You can either get sketchy projector housings for cheap or retrofit stock housings for a little more and make it 10x better than anything you can get oem or aftermarket

Snail_SS Sep 24, 2015 05:57 PM

Think about it this way spend 200 now then not be happy then spend 400+ later. Now your 600 deep when you could of done it correctly once and saved some money

Honestly i have had fantastic experience with 35 Watt digital slim DDM Tuning HID kits in factory housings. Granted this is my first Balt but I have put those kits in every car or motorcycle i have ever owned and in about 8 family/friends cars. The kits are super cheap and every piece has a lifetime warranty. (I have zero affiliations with DDM)

Personally I plan on pulling my housings apart, painting them and dropping a set in myself.

allpro666 Sep 28, 2015 02:17 PM

Ya I have ddm in my truck and love em !

Bass_Waves Sep 29, 2015 09:22 AM

Once you experience retrofit light output. You won't go back to hids in stock housing.

Snail_SS Sep 29, 2015 10:18 AM

^ And he should know he made mine :)

CannonBalt Sep 29, 2015 10:36 AM

Do not ask for advice, then go against it. Don't be "That guy" who puts HID's in OEM reflectors.

Not cheap but they are fun to make and boy is the output better, more reliable and better looking than anything ive seen otherwise
