Heated Seats ?

Ok, another member and myself are thinking about trading seats. His recaro's for my heated leathers and neither of us know the answer to this. I tried searching it, but the results that come up are rediculous and I only made it through like 5 pages lol

Anyway, what we wanna know is if we traded seats and the heated option panel out of my dash, is all the necessary wiring there for him to hook it up in his car since it didn't come from the factory that way? I know in some cars that even if the option wasn't selected, the auto maker throws the wiring in there anyway so I don't know if that's the case on cobalts or not. If anyone knows, that would be quite helpful.

Bump...need to know this asap lol could be the difference in this deal fallin thru or not

Not sure about the wiring, but you will need to take apart both passenger seats (recaro and yours) in order to transfer the passenger seat airbag sensor. Its not hard, but you do have to partially remove the bottom seat skin from both seats.

I did this on mine when I swapped from heated leather to recaro, so if you do go through with it I'll be happy to share whatever I can remember from when I did it.

Yeah, I heard about the airbag sensor thing from a buddy of mine that just did it like 3 weeks ago. He's next to impossible to ever talk to tho cuz he's a douche lol You'll prolly be gettin a pm from me since you'll respond much more quickly than he would. I can drive it w/out hooking that sensor up tho, right? Like the car isn't gonna wig out on me or anything? Cuz I'm prolly doin this sunday and I'm not going to have time to do the 3 hour drive there and 3 back AND go to work at 5 lol

I should prolly mention that the car with the Recaro's in an 06 and heated wasn't an option in 06 from what I hear. So I'm gonna guess that this isn't going to work as far as the seats being functional for warming the ass?

Yeah you'll be fine, you'll just have the the airbag light on. Nothing will happen though.

Yeah my recaros also came out of an 06, so they didnt have heating pads. I couldn't stand for that so I transferred them from my stockers too. They dont heat the same as when they were on the other seats, maybe due to the material, but let me say IT WAS A PAIN IN THE ASS. LOL

My advice to you would be to find a pro that can do it for you, or just leave the heating pads out.

Oh no no no, I think ur misunderstanding what I meant. The member I'm trading with has an 06 w/ recaros and we're both wondering if the wiring harness is already in his car for the heated seats or not as he wants them to be functional. I hardly ever use the heated feature anyway so it doesn't matter to me if I have them or not. We're just trying to figure out if he can bolt my seats (07) into his 06 and the feature work or if they're just going to go unused.

Likely won't be functional without additional work. My car has the extra plugs under the seats for the heated option, but I traced those wires to see where the other ends were since I could never find any extra plugs inside the dash where the switches would normally be, and found out that the dash harness is different, so the heated seat wires don't make it all the way to the center part. You can likely add them in, but it won't be a simple plug and play.

OH ok, yeah there is no pre-existing wiring unless the car came with heated seats. SO, your friend wont be able to utilize the heating pads.

@ 09blackonblack: Drivers side: Seatbelt sensor, Passenger side: Seatbelt sensor + passenger sensor

it should work. i have an 06 and heated seats. like u said, i would imagine the factory would run all necessary wiring for future installs.
