The Cobalt is FWD and comes with 3 different engines. The 2.2, the 2.4, and the supercharged 2.0 litre engine. The 2.4 has VVT.

Anything else cause thats kind of a broad question.

Max? its all dependant on money. It stock sits arround 210 WHP, but is rated @ 205. I am probably sitting arround 270 WHP, but I know others on stock supercharger, are in the 300+ WHP range. max just like any car or setup, is all dependant on how much money you have.

Theres even a twin charge kit for the cobalt, that allows you to have a TURBO and SUPERCHARGER at the same time

thats a broad question too..

how much money do you want to spend?

how much do you want to keep your GM warranty?

a lot of modded SS/SC's on the site see 240-260whp
with mods like GM stage 2, intake, exhaust, downpipe, header, and smaller pulley

when go further with mods like 60lb injectors, 2.5 in pulley ect. some see around 300whp

well when it comes to my car money is no object if it needs it it gets it ! in england the 2.2 is really untunable and unreliable we dont get the 2.4 so i have no idea what thats like the 2.0 is a turbo so would behave differently to the supercharged i think im going to have fun picking an engine here lol

has anyone done a v6 transplant or is it not possible ?

I don't think a V-6 would fit. Then you have the extra weight and not much more performace gain. As for the 2.4 tunes are starting to come out and with simple bolt ons 200 whp is possible and still stay N/A with no spray. I'm looking to get my 2.4 SS sedan in the 14's when I'm all finished with her this summer.

its pretty easy to understand

just by reading up on things you will see

what you like in the car
what mods you can afford and are willing to upgrade
what stupid US road legal standards...IE type of headlights, cats, car to loud, car to low, all that bs

have fun with it!

ohh its worth trying lol nothing more satisfying than getting pulled over and having your car roadside inspected by the ministery of transport and them not finding one thing illigal on it as you pull off under max excelleration (only up to the speed limit of course) waiving goodbye to them and laughing

cops are asshats no matter what country you are from. I know in certain states cops can search your car for modded parts, I think its CA, cause they have emissions laws, but most states could care less, and will only pull over your modified civic if the coffee can on the back you use as a muffler is louder then the average jet plane.
