Smile Help!!!

I just bought a Cobalt LS last week and I have a couple of questions if someone can help me. I would like to change the shifter knob but do not know how. Does anyone know how to do that? I have no power locks on my car and I am trying to change the lock rods to a different style. I am not sure if they just screw off or if it is just glued to the rod. If someone can help with that too. That would be great.

if its a 5 spd then the shifter is easy. turn the locking collar on the shift boot, wiggle the knob and pull up it will come off (found out at a red light one day bored). I cant help you with the locks, i dont have a clue.

I did try to twist them but I am afraid I am going to break them off. Any suggestions on the removal part?

the base of the shift boot just pops off. as for the locks you might need some force.

..the lock knobs just take a set of vice grips lock down on the & and pull/twist, your not going to break anything. But after you get them off you will probably have to trim the little rod b/c the locks will stick WAY up if you dont. Trust me i did it on my car
