Hello everyone. Let me briefly introduce myself. My name is Mike and I'm a 20 year old college student attending Sierra College. I'm currently trying to figure out what I want to replace my 2003 Ford Mustang GT with, and I think the Cobalt SS/SC could be the car. It's currently up against SVT Cobras, Trans - Ams and Camaros. In general, I prefer mass amounts of displacement, but I'm still a fan of any performance car as long as it's done right. Anyhow, I'm wondering what I should pay for a new manual Cobalt SS/SC with the leather Recaros. Leather interior and a manual transmission are my only two requirements. Thanks for any help.

I've been looking at 07 SS/SCs at my local dealer and ALL of them have been in the $24K+ range. Just test drive one and that should help you make up your mind on whether or not you want one.

 

I would say, get a paech thats 4 months old with low Miles... those are usually the best deal. OR brand new. I went new, but iam like that! You'll love the SS/SC, underestimated preatty bad....

Yeah, I've never owned a NEW vehicle, and I'd like to get that changed.

I've looked at the ones around here at the dealer lots online, and it seems MSRP is around 23k and up. I'm just wondering what others paid on a base SS/SC + Recaros.

its a great car and youll get 25+ mpg i get about 25 but i have a lead foot and rarely drive on highyway. its a great all around car. but it pales in comparison to the sheer performance of cars like the camaro and svt cobras

Because of the 2v motor. To make a long story short, the only way to make any REAL hp with a 2v is to use N20, a blower or a turbo. In case you didn't know, the GT is a low to mid 14 second car, just like an SS/SC. They can break into the high 13s with the right conditions. Id also like a new car. I purchased this car used, so of course it has a couple of small problems. I'd like to get a car that was broken in by myself.

 

^ I would much rather have a Camaro or a SVT Cobra or Cobalt SS/SC over a Mustang GT. I don't think he bumped his head, I think he came to his sences! You know, it all depends on what you can afford, I know one thing, my Cobalt SS/SC does not hurt me at the gas station compared to my last vehicle aka Camaro. Running mid 13s with a warnity with 25mph is not bad at all. Cobalt SS/SC with recaros

I agree to a point man, but there is some freaks out there with Hondas and stuff all motor running 10s. Its crazy you know it? Damn light cars haha. Good luck, I hope whatever you choose runs well and lasts long. I always say there is 3 types of cars out there. Racetrack Car Only, Fast Everyday Street Car, and Beater Car.

 

hey! ss/sc is a great car! im loving mine! i only wish there was better traction from the line... other then that the car is fantastic!

 

Now thats what I meant to say. The stock Cobalt SS/SC can run the same times (maybe a tenth or two off) as a GT, but still get great gas mileage. Not to mention performance parts that wont void your warranty and still get you (deep?) into the 13s.

Anyhow, does 20k sound like too much for an SS/SC with leather?

 

again the parts gm offers have the capability to bring you into the mid-low 13's UNDER WARRANTY! but it all depends on your launch, these cars are pretty tough to launch well due to traction issues..

If you want the recaros your prolly gonna have to get a 06. Theres only a few 05s with them, and a VERY few 07s with them.

I just learned something. I assumed all the SS/SCs with leather used Recaro seats. I take the Recaro statement back then. All I need is a manual and leather.

 

Yea but the cars with the recardos also have an LSD!

 

All Supercharged Cobalts come ONLY with manual trannies. As far as I know, Supercharged Cobalts all have leather standard too. So, really, all you should look for is ANY SS/SC.

 

i dont know if its me but arizona gets the most gms and they always have the best prices , i mean seriously just look at see how many members are in the arizona roll call thread and when i was looking for an 04 gto back when they were brand new arizonas prices were by far the cheapest and they also had tons

 

i paied 26 grand CANADIAN for a loaded ss/sc (even with LSD) sticker was 30. donno what that works out to american

 

I'm bringing my first thread back from the dead. I just realized I never updated everyone as to what happened. I obviously got rid of the Mustang for another car, but didn't end up with a Cobalt. Instead, I ended up with a beautiful 2005 Cyclone Gray Metallic Pontiac GTO with a six speed manual transmission. I'm going on my third month of ownership, and it's been three months of tire wasting fun!

I'm tossing the idea around of getting a 2.4 SS as a daily driver later on. By the time I'm ready to do that, it'll probably be 2010, haha.
