Help Quick!!! Gf Lost Keys
As the title said my gf lost keys to the balt God knows where. In order to get another key made i need the reg and insurance inside the car. I don't have onstar and I bought the car used.
As of now i have the weather stripping off and the only metal bar with my slim jim kit i can get to in the actual door handle. Any help asap would be great!

Anyway, as other said, roadside assistance will get you going quickly and cheaply.

when you lose a key and you have no second key...in some of the gm vehicles not sure about the cobalts, they car wont start unless the key is programmed by a gm dealership , they used to say the key has to be learned.... i dunno how much BS that was though or why they would call it that...makes no sense but anyway....
we lost a set of keys once for a chevy van...and they had to cut 2 new keys using the vin number and then program them to the car which took about an hour.
it involved some weird turning the key in the ignition on and off and leaving it that way for like 10 mins and then going back and doing it again...it was weird. if you lost a key fob those have to be reprogrammed to ur cars comp. if you lose 1 and then get a new one..you have to have both reprogrammed. if you reprogram only one...then the other one wont work...thats why GM suggests doing both at once.

If you have OnStar, call them first. They can unlock your doors remotely at a pre-set time
Then with the correct supporting documentation you can get another key CUT but as others have mentioned, if it's a 2006 model it will have Passkey 3+ and your dealer will need to learn the new key into the car's theft deterrant system. (tow job) If it's an 05 it has Passlock and you will be able to start it up with the key they cut
HTH

You shouldnt be able to start it without the transponder. So I would bend up a coat hangar or something a little stiffer use a cloth so you dont scratch the car and put it through the crack between the weather stripping. This way you might be able to press the unlock button with the hangar since its on the door. Has worked for me before.
Heres a little message for all who thought it wouldn't start without a transponder. It did! Key cost $31 at GM they tried to charge me another $51 and I would have to get my car towed up there. I said to myself F that and went home. Key in the ignition.....VROOM!
