Help with wheel hop!

I searched and looked through all the threads, so hear me out...lol.

I've had my car 3.5 weeks. The clutch was shot when I got it, so i learned to drive a stick on a burnt clutch. I just got it back today, and needless to say it grabs a little harder, so I'm pretty much relearning how to drive a stick. I've wheelhopped every launch I've made today, and I need help! I'm not racing, I'm trying to drive this thing like granny, but to no avail.

I know I need Ingall's and mounts, but I'm broke, so figure two weeks for cash and shipping. I can't wait that long. I live in Detroit, I have a red light every quarter mile. I need a driver mod to last me until i get the parts.

When I had it with the burnt clutch, I would rev up to about 1500 and ease out, no problems. I do that now and hop like crazy. If I try the same at 1000, I stall. Clutch faster, slower? Gas slower? I don't know what to do, all I know is that I'm going to break something if I keep doing this, so I need some tips please!

are you asking how to drive or what kind of parts you need to eliminate wheel hop?

no bashing, just want to make sure...

get out of the clutch faster....and feed the throttle in slower.
if you start to hop, get out of the throttle and back into it really quick.
usually that will halt the hopping.

get yourself some traction mods.
Ingalls is great.

Sounds like you need to practice driving first and then order the mounts and other **** before you try to launch your car....get a "How to Drive Standard Vehicles for Dummies"
Drive your car normal, don't trying to launch all the time and just wait for the parts to come in

By launch I don't mean I'm not driving normal. I hop every time I start moving. How to drive a standard for dummies is exactly what I'm looking for.
I know what parts I need, i'm just asking whats a good RPM to start moving at, etc etc.

Google to find the manual.....

I'm guessing your talking about what RPM to shift at???? I would say 30-35 rpm's if your trying to be conservative

Heres how I taught my wife.Dont give it any gas when you start to release the clutch when it starts to roll give it some gas (not alot) then let the clutch out slowly till you get use to it.

I filled my motormount and transmounts with polyurathane, there is a how to about it. Cost about 6 bucks and 45 mins of work and 12 hours of waiting for it to cure. If your really driving they way you say you are and not really lauching it, by the way how many miles on the car, and if it had a burnt up clutch I guessing this is the case the car was driven really hard and the mounts may have already been ripped apart rendering them usless so you prob are gonna need new mounts, and a dampner.

let it out slower, I can get the car going up to 10 mph without even giving it gas. as long as your not going up hill. My girl can do it too, she's having the issue whenever she is stopped and trying to get going uphill. If the world was flat she could drive my car.

Hardly any, let it out slow untill it starts to roll just as soon as it starts to roll give it some gas and let out the clutch a little more. I went outside just now to do it and it works just practice a little bit before you go out on the roads.

I just learned clutch at the beginning of my school year and now I'm a pro. You know how? One day it just clicks with you. It happened when i actually realized I CAN FEEL WHAT THE CLUTCH IS DOING IN THE FOOT. Then from then on it comes natural

The shitty thing is it clicked for me...when my clutch was shot. Lol...so now that is actually grabs, I'm back to square one. I just went and drove around a parking lot for 45 minutes, starting to pick it up, just very very slow when I start moving. I'm gonna **** off people following me...lol. Oh well. I guess I'll get it eventually. Thanks for all the help. The let off until i start rolling thing is working for me, just very slow starting.

You really need to just go find a parking lot and play with your car Sit there at a stop and slowly let out the clutch but pay attention at what point the car dies and burn that in your mind . Thats the point the clutch is fully engaged My Spec for instance , engages way up top ....I barely have to push the clutch in for full engagement . The point of that is , so u dont push the clutch in farther than u have to ( doing that will make the car jerk if u let out the clutch to qwik or will slip the clutch alot if u let out slow ...because ur feet are out synch , ur feeding it too much throttle before u even get to the engagement point on the clutch pedal ) . When ur sitting at a light stopped , push the clutch in just past the engagement point and when u go to take off .....practice on just making 1 fluid motion of letting out the clutch and easing the gas pedal . Obviously depending on how fast u take off will determain how fast or slow u let out the ease off the clutch and ease into the throttle . Once u get used to it , u should beable to take off without slipping the clutch ....most of the time . I cant believe how many people I see that drive sticks that just slip the absolute hell outa there clutches when they take off from a stop .......slipping is bad ...mmmmmmk

Also a tip shifting the other gears while the car is moving , same principle ....dont push the clutch in farther than u have .

I think he's confusing the bucking in first gear when you let off the throttle too quickly with wheel hopping. There's no way you are wheel hopping on a slow start. Once you step on the gas, don't let up, just keep going. When I was teaching my wife to drive she did the same thing, and couldn't understand why when she tried to go slow, we were bucking like a mechanical bull.

^^^Holy **** Silver SS/SC, I just saw your sig. You got a 13.68 on the stock pulley!!!! Maybe I've been out of the loop, but what mods did you have if you don't mind me asking (other than the drags of course).

Hmmm ok yea I was mistaking that. I'll keep that in mind. I think I'm getting there, slowly but surely
