Hid flicker

Got a set of hids installed in my car just in the stock headlights for now (I know I know tisk tisk) going to purchase a set of projectors and wondering what this is due to. I figure a bad ground but uncertain. Another possibility is a relay harness? I don't know what the do or how they work. Can some one explain?

Relay usually hooks up to the battery does it not? How would I run that off the power post? Just ground it off on a screw?

usually a relay will solve that issue, even on my morimoto 3Five HID kit the bulbs will flicker for a moment when they first turn on but will stop after reaching the bulbs proper kelvin.
