hid help please

hi i have a hid kit and installed it all right, its a low beam kit, and since i live in canada and have DRL i took out my hi beam fuses becase at night when i go to unlock my car doors the hids would turn on but not enough time for them to heat up because i would open my car door to get inside, now i have a question, sometime when i drive my left headlight turns off and turns off by its self as if theres a timer, like its on for 3min than off for 10sec than on again, now is this because they need the other fuses back in because there not getting enough power or what is the prob?

Your HID should not be coming on when you unlock the doors as the hi beams are what come on when you unlock the doors.

You've got them hooked up to the highs and not the lows. Swap the connection to the wire you didn't use in the harness.... that should work.

I made the same mistake the first time I put mine in.

you have your HID ballasts drawing power from your HIGHBEAMs
switch the source so its drawing from your lowbeams.

and start saving for some projectors or your going to kill someone with the glare.

What kit is it that you have exactly. Mine was a low beam HID hi beam Halogen and mine came wired backwards also. They were my hi beams at first. It only takes about 30 seconds to fix this. Let me know which kit you have and ill explain how to do it if I can.

It most likely the ballast you got in the kit . When I used to have a HID kit in the stock lights I would get wierd problems like this when everything was 100% wired to spec . Sometimes the ballast wouldnt fire , turn the switch off , then it fires fires fine . Sometimes the ballasts made odd buzzing noises . I had a couple instances where the HID's turned off completely while I was driving , then came back on . Then after a year one ballast quit working and a bulb blew up in my headlight housing and ruined it .

At the low prices these HID kits are , I can only imagine how cheaply made the ballasts are . I would call where u got the kit from and tell them about the intermittency . They should send u a new ballast if everything is wired correctly like u say .

Guys , he said he pulled high beam fuses . If he had them wired backwards the lights would never work period ....just fyi .

Though it may be different in Canada .....the low beams come on when unlock and lock the doors on the US cars .

mmm , wierd , maybe they changed it at some point . On my Bi-Xenons when I lock and unlock the doors the lows come on and do not trigger the high beam shudder at all in the projectors...the high beam shudder in my projectors are powered off the high beam wires .

must just be your wiring silver.
my shutters go into highbeam mode when i unlock

and i can confirm 100% that opening the doors engages the highbeams in stock headlights, and the ebay projectors.

AFAIK, the high-beam's come on with reduced voltage when the unlock feature is utilized. It could simply be that the reduced voltage is not enough to trigger the shutters on your set.

i had that same problem with my old hid kit...its your ballast its about to blow a fuse in it. call or e mail the company that you ordered your kit from an they them your ballast is acting up and you would like a new one before it gives you more problems

also forgot to add since you have the 1 step hid kit when you unlock your car the headlights dont come on like they would if your stockys were in but if you had a bi hid kid(hi/low beam) then once you unlock the door they will turn on again
