If you are going to run HIDs in stock housings you do not want to paint the backside of the housing as it is a bowl style which reflects the light outward. Now if you got a retrofit setup ( my personal recommendation ) you can paint the back

I 2x the retrofit recommendation and other drivers will thank you for the retrofits over just HIDs in OEM housings.

5000k is a good temp to use for headlights.
Stick with 35w..

Above all else, I do recommend a retrofit, like the others are saying.
AT THE VERY LEAST, use eBay projector headlights.

Getting projectors is definitely worth it. You'll be amazed at how much better a proper setup is at night.

Nothing is wrong with stock housing. People just like to gripe saying its blinding and painful. I've seen worse though...

The light spread from a HID bulb is completely different than from a halogen bulb, and will glare the living crap out of on coming drivers without a correct cutoff shield to stop part of the light pattern.

Its really easy to build your own retrofits takes 4-6h depending on how knowledgable you are with tools and figuring things out, but Padlock has a how to on here

Love it... Mise well not even drive with lights on at night seeing as how people cry about anything other than OEM lighting. Hell my old man has Sylvania Ultras in his 2010 Silverado and they are brighter than my lights on my car. Almost thought about making the swtich to them over my hids but I like the retro look on my car.

The glare from a HID bulb is completely different than a halogen bulb unless your buying cheap ass HIDs. Cobalts arent as bad as others, but it still glares worse than halogens. Also most truck headlights are so far off correctly aligned its not funny
