Holley Hydramat - fuel pickup

Let me start by saying I have never had fuel starvation issues that I know of however I also believe in doing it right "while I'm in there" as long as it offers a worthwhile performance advantage. At this point I am not sure if Cobalt's ever even have fuel pickup issues as long as the tank isn't low. I'm reaching out to see if anyone on here has had fuel starvation or air interrupting full fuel flow with their Cobalt's and if they had what did they do about it. Also wondered if anyone has used or been around Holley's hydramat.

i havent used holley hydromat but ive read some very good things about it, and heard some great reviews from people who have.

i cant say ive heard of anyone with a cobalt having fuel starvation issues related to g-force and fuel slosh, it would seem our fuel basket does an adequate job as long as the tank isnt empty.

If I try to take a sharp turn at damn near full throttle my engine seems to want to cut out even with 5/8 of a tank.

The feedback I have gotten on Facebook is that issues develop at 1/2 tank and worsen from there.

Actually looks like this one simply installs in place of the standard in-tank fuel pump sock. No magnets or adhesion to the tank required

I'll be using the AEM 320lph E85 pump with 650cc split spray injectors.

Is 60 lbs/hr going to be enough injector for your build? I maxed them out around 320 whp

I'm not on E85 at this point. Just getting the pump because there is a new station near me and I may transition in the future. They should keep up with pump gas and water/meth hopefully.

Cobalt fuel tank capacity = 13 gallons

1/4 tank (~3 gallons) vs 3/4 tank (~9 gallons) = difference of 6 gallons

Weight of 1 gallon fuel ~6.2lbs

6*6.2 = 37.2 lbs

Curb weight Cobalt SS = 2,815 lbs

37.2 / 2,825 = 1.3%

The hydramat has the potential to reduce your race weight by 1.3%. Doesn't matter if you win by 0.001 or 1 second, Winning is Winning.
