How can I tell if it has stg2?

I was checking out the auto trader to see if there were any deals on SS/SC Cobalts. I found one that seems like a decent deal. Clicky
It claims to have stage 2 how can I tell if it is really there? I am a little unsure about trusting them since they also claim the engine is a 2.2 and that it has traction control.

Thats wierd the part about the 2.2 and traction control.
But if it is GM stage 2 I believe the bolts on the supercharger pulley are blue.

There are three easy ways to tell if the car is a GM stage 2.

1) Examine the supercharger pulley and see what color the pulley bolts are. If they are blue then there stage 2, if there black then there stock

2) Examine the supercharger pulley and see what is engraved on it. I forget what stage 2 is in millimeters, but just convert 3.06 inches to millimeters and thats what it is.

3) Actually test drive the vehicle and if it is really stage 2 then the redline should be at 7grand instead of 6500.

The stock pulley is pressed on, so if there are any bolts at all its probably not the stock size. And yes, the stage 2 bolts should be blue and they should be a torx head.

1st off 24 & Change for a used car is crazy, when they list for that New!
2nd) It has no Sunroof
3rd) No onstar or Xm
4th) In 5 months they will be Building the 08's
5th) It Dont have the side Curtain airbags either!
The best this car should go for is around $18,000

I bought mine with everything but a Sunroof & Onstar for 21,600 Brand new.

The car shown above is listed for sale in Ontario, Canada..... Canadian dollars, With only 600km on it. It's also a GM dealer, so it may be a NEW (no owner, demo for example). So that price isn't to far off.

Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe - Starting From $24,960MSRP (via GMCanada.com)

It has 600 Km ITs used & IT IS ALMOST 2 build years old!
Canadian Dealers are screwed up then, Because here they wouldn't sell it as new. Because of the Miles!
seen Pics of 1 here in the states being sold for 14 & change No Miles! 06

What I find amusing is that it's a GM Dealer & they Don't Know what Motor it Has or the Proper term for LSD. <<< Not Traction Controll

another way to tell if it has stage 2 is by looking at the pulley and seeing if it has 4 bolts or 5 bolts stage 2 has 4 blue bolts and pretty much every other aftermarket manufacturer use 5 bolts

What he said ^^^^

And at 24000 CND its a freaking good deal man. This car is a G85, so limited slip and recaro's. The car only has 600KM, so its not even broken in yet. I also think this is a demo car, so you can get the low interest rate. I'd deff buy that car if I was you. Try to get them to lower it, but even if not thats a good price, prob under cost. I paid 27500 for mine, but i have sunroof, onstar and the side baggs and GMPP S2, and everyother dealer couldnt even comme close, they said that was 1500 under cost. So at the price, G85 and GMPP S2, buy it and FAST. Sweet deal

^^^ =The guy posting this might not know alot about cars, or it simply slipped because he is prob really busy. Or it could be the auto trader messing up, they do that aallllll the time. So dont blame the dealer.

A demo is basically a brand new car that some salesman drove around in, so it still has the brand new warranty. So its totally not the same as a used car. And they are somewhat limited to what they car do with the car, where a used car, the guy can do whatever with it. Even at the 600KM is only like 400 miles, so thats nothing. Interest rate on a 06 is 0 and 07 is 2% and this ones sticker is lowered quite a bit. So this car compared to the same in 07 form will cost you at least 40-50$ less a month. The 07 is exacly the same as 06 exceot for very minor details, totally not worth the extra $$ for 07!!

If I'm Not Mistaken isn't that the same car that was on the Home Page of the forum. Doing a road course. Maybe it's a good deal in canada, But it's 500 Mile Break in is almost over & you Dont Know How it was Broke in!
Tell ya this Much drive the car off the Lot with 0 Miles & return it with 400 or so. See if they give you New Cost or what that sticker is, Bet they would not give you what they are selling this 1 for!
2nd off why would you put a stage 2 kit on a car before Break-in, Something don't add up!
But what ever you want!

I went to the dealers website and on that ad there is no mention of stage 2. I wrote them to ask what the warranty was like.

I didn't say it WAS new i say it MIGHT be new... well... considered new is what i meant.. but you're right if they were selling it as NEW something is wrong there.. they still may be trying to get the delivery charge out of the sale also...

As for pricing... If you go to lots around here, they have new SS/SC's with a sunroof (thats it) for 28,000 or more depending on color... every dealer tries to mark up as much as they think someone will pay.

A) They are lying to you to get a sale!
B) The salesperson doesn't know what the F@#K he/she is talking about! Go someplace else!!!

I saw this same car for sale in another auto trader and it said new car. Unless they where mistaken then. If its new and they arent trying to F around with destination cost, I;d deff buy it. If its used, then shop around a little, you can find something with a little more miles for at least 3grand less. Or get a brand new one for a little more, or same price with less no G85 (that i strongly recommend).

Evlpeanut, nice pictures of your ride infront of the bassin. I go to SMU so iam always around town. I have a SS/SC with aluminum 5 spoke 16" for winter. I also have the good ol NB plates. Give me a wave if u see me sometime, always fun to meet fellow cobalt owners. Sorry to see the huge scuff or ure nice wheels, that totally blows!!

I decided to let it go. I wanted to wait till summer anyway, I was just checking out auto trader to see what was out there. I saw another ad for an SS/SC with a 2.4, I really wish auto trader had a couple people on staff to check the ads before they post them. I see mistakes on there all the time that could be easily spoted by someone up to date in the car market.
