It's just like poe-tate-oh, poe-tot-oh. Economy in the Websters Dictionary says you can pronounce it eek or eck. My inlaws work for GM and prononce it eek-o-teck. The first time I read it that's the way I figured it was pronounced. I guess it's just your preference.

in conclusion he has a goofy ass accent which is why he mispronounces it and its really pronounced Eek-o-teck
he probably adds an "R" to the end word "idea" aswell.
