How to remove antenna base

Someone broke my antenna base last night by yanking on my antenna, long story short I have to change out the base. I was just wondering, can I order just the base or am I going to need the cable too? I can't really see where the antenna disconnects from the base.

Not the antenna, the actual base. There are two bolts that holds it against the side of the trunk and then it pulls down out. After I pull out the base how do I disconnect it from the cable running to the front of the car?

Any suggestions on how to get it out, wise grips or the like? Does it clip in place or what, I gave it a good yank and it felt like it was permanently hooked there.

I think we used vice grips and pulled as hard as we could. I don't remember it twisting out or anything.
I think its a straight pull.

Okay, and it pulls apart below the actual bolt-on mount so I will be able to change it out?

didn't it break off the base? Are you trying to disconnect the antenna from the cable? or the antenna from the bracket?

This is the best I can do right now since I don't have the car right here (working on installing an alarm). The green wire would be the incoming line, red is what needs to be removed. I need to remove EVERYthing off the end of the line and switch it out as someone broke the part that the antenna screws to totally off the bracket that bolts inside the trunk. I have a new one ordered, just not sure how exactly to go about removing the old one.

gotchya. I don't think those two come apart. I was in the same situation as you were and I remember not wanting to have to replace the whole antenna cable because the base snapped off the bracket.
But you can modify the bracket to wrap around the base.

similar issue here.. anyone ever do this ? i read that the antenna wire is held in by three spring prongs so u need to ocmpress those to remove it from the base

what i'm unsure of is replacing the antenna cable (headunit-antenna base wire)

unplug it form the radio, attach it to new cable and pull right through or do i need to remove all my panels and unlip it from soemwhere? i got a abd feeling of just pulling it through like i'll snag on something and **** **** up that i dont need to

I believe the antenna wire just pulls out of the base of the bracket It may take some doing carefull not to bend and brake it. The base should come off by unding two bolts. The actual antenna should unscrew from the base and then you can just replace that piece.

I just pulled that cable out and pushed the new one in. It took a good amount of force tho as mine was corroded. As for where that cable goes, i have no clue cuz i didnt replace it, or need to for that matter lol
