How's it ride?
As part of my ongoing SS/SC research I need to know something. How does the SS/SC ride on unsmooth bumpy pavement, and is it that bad. Reason is, my roads around here absolutely suck and the city won't invest in them. Oh, and depending on if I can fit in it, I'm also considering a Mazdaspeed 3. But we'll see. I still like the SS better, but you can't deny the Mazda is damn sexy! Plus it's only half-rice! (Rice as in Asian cars, not as in cars that look fast but flop.)
I swear to god I wish they'd make them fly a Japanase flag over their dealership.
I've got an SS N/A - it rides vert well on uneven pavement, so I'd assume the SC is even better. I will admit that sometimes it gets a bit see-saw on an up and down type bump at very low speed.
Why not ask the dealer if you can take it home for a night to see if you like it? Some will let you - especially *certified used* guys.

I think the car handles good, especially with the type of low profile tires we have. IF you decide to do aftermarket rims&tires thats a different story. I've been to Detroit with my car and there roads are way worst than ours.
I commute to downtown detroit every day and this is so true! Our roads are horrible! The SS/SC is a very firm ride and a lot of the people who ride in my car comment on how you can feel everything. I don't mind it much but it is true. You can feel every imperfection in the road, especially with the 18's and low profile tires. Highway driving isn't bad though. It's just kind of annoying when you're in WOT towards the top of 1st or 2nd and hit a small bump and start spinning the tires. The 16" snow tires have been better riding though. It all depends on what you're looking for. This car is definitely not a dedicated urban setting car due to the harsher ride and manual transmission, but you'll appreciate the suspension every time you turn. She corners like she's on rails!
yeah, its a firm ride. definately a sport tuned suspension. im young so i dont mind, but my parents dont like riding on back roads with me. but the firm ride pays off because it handles so well. NO BODY ROLL!!!! or at least very little .
I own a 2.4L SS and have driven SC and the ride was much harder.
If you have less then perfect roads and it matters (good ride qaulity) to you---get the 2.4 SS. Its suspension was tuned by GM performance dvison as well (not at Nuremberg thouugh)--it does handle very well and feels more refined because of it. Of course you'll sacrifice power.....
