I Hate Mis-informed Journalists!!
Don't any of these guys look at dyno sheets?
Here is a quote from Edmunds about the first gen camaro:
"How did the first Camaro perform? Car Life magazine's test of an SS-350 had it completing the quarter-mile in 15.8 seconds at 89 mph while Motor Trend reported that its SS-350 did the same trick in 15.4 seconds at 90 mph."
I think the Cobalt SS deserves the "SS"; despite its "weak" 205 hp engine it certainly gives better times than some old school muscle.

hah, that thing goes to 60 in 6.3 seconds.... our balts were rated 0-60 in 5.9 and our 1/4 mile times are generally faster than 14.8 , ... but whatever those guys wanna say.
Chevrolet now has a vehicle to compete (and beat) plenty of sport compact cars including the Honda Civic Si, Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V Volkswagen GTI
What does he mean now?? And the cobalt ss/sc didnt?! Someone needs to do there homework

There has been all this talk about the "SS" lately. I am glad that GM is tightening it up and only putting it on cars that deserve it. Pisses me off greatly when some idiot says the SS/SC doesn't deserve it.
But a lot of people don't know that on many of the first SSs it was nothing more than an appearance package. You could get a '63 or so Chevy II SS with 6 cylinder and automatic. The SS just meant more chrome, emblems and a floor shifter, no power or suspension mods at all.

But with Stage II, the Cobalt SS/SC is the fastest SS in Chevrolet's ranks you can buy new - I think that deserves the SS badge.
IMO

I hate it.
But good job for having one of the ugliest sigs ever.
Loven the fact that i have to make sure to keep my anger in check just from a post.
