Immitation Greddy Catch can WTF

Purchased a $140.25 Greddy Catch can off Performance Auto Parts | Car Accessories | Truck Accessories - JMAutoracing.com because it looked like a legit website with a decent deal.

Worst idea ever...

they shipped it in a timely manner... I ordered on Jan 28th, it came in 3-4 days via priority mail... sweet! Sent me a tracking number... all was well...

Here is what arrived... a empty aluminum can without a drain fitting for $140...

They have a 14 day return policy, with zero hassles, zero headaches. Just email them photos of the product, get the RMA#, and ship it back. I also need to pay a 10% restocking fee, and shipping cost to send it back... whatever... problem is they're giving me the hardest damn time ever. Saying this product is directly from Greddy.

I emailed them on the 3rd of Feb saying this product is not as described I want to return it.
I get no reply... About a week later I escalate it and open a dispute through paypal. They immediately respond

Told me to close the dispute and follow the return policy... so I did... Sent them one email with photos... no reply... sent them the 2nd email with photos... no reply.... then i finally sent them a 3rd email saying if they dont respond by x time the following day I'll escalate the matter with paypal...

Their response was they need approval via greddy to return it.... WTF!?

I'll post the emails as soon as hotmail decides to work again.

Now I need to call paypal tomorrow during business hours and try and get this case open again... Since I closed it in paypal before to follow their return policy.

This is directly from their site...

Shiddy. Ask Greddy who their "Authorized Dealers" are. Easy solution.

haha...

seriously dude.. the assembly is easy... 2 hose fittings and a water/oil level. This is ridiculous though...

I called them this last Friday and the guy didn't even know how to answer my question. just said to email them... wtf is the point of even calling them then?!

"From: jmautoracing@gmail.com

Subject: Greddt Catch Can
Date: Fri, 10 Feb 2012 11:05:46 -0500

According to our information, you are claiming that this product is an imitation? The product is from Greddy themselves. If you are calling our product an imitation, I advise you to contact Greddy and ask them. Your name has been in their system since the original date of the order. We can however, accept a return but according to our TOS, we can not do so with an open dispute or chargeback claim.
What I would need from you is the following:
1)PayPal dispute needs to be closed.
2) RMA request needs to be done via our website.
3) Please send pictures of what you received along with the model number on the box.

If you have further questions, please contact me directly at 516-287-8522. Thank you!"

That was our second email... I don't recall you mentioning that you need approval from Greddy.
You are the vendor/store, it is not my responsibility that you need a approval from Greddy; I paid you, not Greddy.

This is directly from your site. I have fulfilled these request, starting with my original email to you on 2/03/2012 requesting a return.
I already said I'll cover the shipping cost, all I want to do is return the product, get charged the 10% flat rate restocking fee, and refunded the remainder of $126.22.
If you guys cannot follow your own return policy, I'll be forced to open a dispute and settle it via Paypal.

Return Policies

Products must be in original packaging and in a new and resalable condition.
Any product that was used or fully/partially installed is non-returnable.
All returns must be reported within 14 days
All returned products have a flat Restocking Fee of 10%.
Shipping Fees are non-refundable.
All returns must be made via our Return Procedure with a valid RMA form. If an item is returned without an RMA issued and a return approved, there will be a 20% restocking charge on the total amount of the invoice.
Order cancellations can only be requested prior to shipment or in some cases, prior to the start of the manufacturing or painting process.
Any special order products may not be cancelled or returned. All sales on these are final unless otherwise stated. By refusing a package you will be subject to a higer restocking fee.
Credit Card Fees are non-refundable

Once again as our second email stated, we cannot RMA something without the approval of Greddy. Otherwise you will be stuck with store credit minus the re-stocking fee.

This is the third time I'm emailing you guys requesting to return after speaking with you over the telephone last Friday. I've included another photo in the email showing the box's serial numbers etc..

If I don't hear back from you by 02/15/2012 - 2:00 P.M. P.S.T. I'll be forced to open another dispute with paypal.

Thank you
-Steve

I have that same GameBoy lolz. seriously though that sux, they dicked a friend of mine around about a CF hood, pisses me off. I dont/wont be buying from them seeing what my friend went thru.

That is the Greddy can though... I couldve gotten it for you for a few dollars cheaper or even sat you up with a better design. I personally like the Mishimoto Catch Can. I recently sold one similar to the NRG one and can get those at a good price. Pm me if you are interested/want some prices.

Ive literally seen a catch can that cost about 40$ new with fittings and can be bought at local hardware store on the RLF.... IIRC it was an industrial type catch that was bought at a tractor store... not pretty but it worked!

That is a GReddy oil catch can. I was using that exact catch can on my 240sx. It's an older model and I believe the newer ones are round. Now I'm running a Moroso unit which seems to be a lot higher quality. Some of the JDM products are cheap.

What really stinks is when you have to read the installation instructions. It's a good thing they have pictures in there because if it was dependant on my knowledge of Japanese I'd be in trouble.

It sucks that you're having a hard time returning it but forgive my ignorance... What's wrong with it? It looks like it matches their description just fine. I couldn't find anywhere that said it was supposed to have baffles or a drain fitting...

Did I miss it?

It's a pile of **** is what it is...

I could of saved myself $140 and welded two 1/2" OD tubes to a monster can if all I wanted was a empty can with fittings.
