Info on 2.4 SS Automatics?
Buddy of mine has one, they're super nice cars! I have a Corolla XRS 6-speed and just visited the doctor...certain...parts are getting squished when I drive a stick and is causing complications with my boys. I think I need a car with an auto.
Those cars have some low end guts, do they not? How is the mileage? I have a heavy foot, so...
With a lead foot and a 6-speed all heavy city, i get 20-22 mpg in my Corolla XRS (which seems bad)
what would it be like in the 2.4 SS auto?
Also, do the transmissions "lock" on hills or do they roll back?

i also have a heavy foot with my 2.4 auto. typically i get 24-27 mpg with city and some occasional highway. the car is ballsy, i can't complain about power. low torque is pretty good, she pulls steady to about 4000 rpm then she just screams all the way to redline. thats the beauty of the VVT. it's fun as hell to drive

i'm not a big guy! But the pedals on the damn Corolla are close i guess. Let's put it this way, in order for me to hit the clutch i need to squish my leg against my left nut...maybe the pedals are too close together?

Is your seat tight or something? I can't imagine even if they are close that it would be that big of an issue. You sure it's not from you wear nut hugging tighty whities?

You will love it, it will outrun the XRS hands down, after about 6k miles our 2.4 is getting 25.5 MPG city, 31 mpg hwy cruising at 75. oh and the cobalts have PLENTY of room, im 6'3 200 and i only have to scoot the seat back about 3/4 of the way. Pedal ergonomics are awsome too, not too close. As far as performance, do bolt ons and a motor/tranny tune and put some smaller front wheels/tires on the 2.4 and your almost in the 14's in the quarter mile, and running with stock SS/SC until about 60 or so. just get a SS/2.4 Sedan (if you still want a 4 door), plus 6 yr 100k drive terrain warr., toyota cant touch chevys new warr.
this is a stock SS 2.4 Sedan Auto, runs high 15s stock, but mods are coming
chevy FTW!

The wheels are stock ones. Sedans are useualy a little less expensive to insure. The ride is really good IMO. Yes they do, an intake, performance exhaust manifold and cat back.

i think its a great car. handles well, sporty but not stiff suspension and good get up and go. my dic usually never reads below 27 mpg and gets into the low 30s if im mostly on highway. if u do get one get it with the pioneer speakers and sub. sounds great

i have the 2.4 automatic coupe with a garrett turbo kit and the car is great to drive. the 2.4 liters of disp. help alot with getting off the line. i used to have a 1.8 liter celica that was the slowest thing off the line ive ever driven.
