Don't know if it's because of the extra humidity here, or the gulf and atlantic coast sea breezes, but the air quality doesn't seem to suffer enough to warrant it. After seeing some of the heaps out on the road, though, I wouldn't mind annual inspections. It's not uncommon to see someone passing you on the highway without their fendors, bumpers, hood, and even a few times I've seen without doors. I bet quite a few accidents could be prevented here if they inspected everyone's brakes...

emissions and saftey inspections are different. i've rolled around in my car without a fender for a month, nothin wrong with it. its the people who have black exhaust spewing out of their exhaust that gets on my nerves. oh and those ginass diesel trucks pollute a lot... just because you have a good "sea breeze" shouldnt allow you to **** up the air. everyone is going to end up needing to breath the air. it sounds like the states that dont have emissions controle are pushing their problems (and crappy air) onto the states that give a damn about our air. not trying to **** a brick, but come on.

here in OK you don't have to get inspected every year, but they say that the cops can ticket you if you fail a roadside inspection they can give you. basically you have to keep the car up to the old standards, but don't have to take it in anymore.

PA Inspection

Inspections required in PA, all of the state has a safety inspection. But depending on where you live in PA will determine what type of emmisions test your will need. (Tailpipe, dyno, OBD)
