Intercooler Fluid

Hey im new and had kind of a dumb question probably. I cant see any fluid in my intercooler and didnt know what i should use to fill it. Is it the same as filling the radiator or am i going to mess something up doing that?

Water is fine. With it getting colder and you living farther up north it prob would be good to atleast do a 50/50 mix with water and coolant

Did you recently bleed the system? Perhaps had air pockets? Burning any by chance?

I run straight distlled water since I live in Texas and have a garage. Since you're in IL, 50/50 water and dexcool.

50/50 mix of dexcool and water.

Just pour in the filler neck and you should see it disappear till its full.

Then drive around to get the air out and refill.

If it fills instantly and you dont see movement then you have a dead pump.

He should've stated this, but it was pretty obvious. I'm filling my LNF with a 50/50 mix as we speak. Should be done in the next 10.

You do realize that the LSJ does use fluid in it's intercooler, right? Intercoolers are not always the front mounted sort.

right. because the LNF is the only cobalt ever produced...

A heat exchanger is just another name for an intercooler.

I don't think it's a troll thread. I think the OP is just really new to the car (as I am to the LNF). But, I at least knew what car he had by the question. And, obvious sarcasm is obvious on my part.

I used to buy 50/50 dexcool and put it in there. I didnt want to mess with distilled water since it freezes here but in the summer months you might be ok.

dexcool is thicker than water and the heat transfer rate will suffer if you use pure dexcool and not mixed with anything. which is why people try to use only water if they can if they live in a warm enough year round environment.

Best thing to do is just buy pre-mixed AC Delco Dexcool. You can't screw it up that way.

U need to remove the screw off the top of ur stock heat exchanger and turn the car on, pour the fluid in till its ful and make sure its flowing, it not ur ic pump is dead and needs to be replaced asap. If the pump is working keep pouring till u see fluid pur out of the screw hole from where u removed the screw. This helps bleed air faster, they will still be air in the system tho and for the next month as u drive top off the filler neck after u stop somewhere.

I meant 50/50. Not pure dexcool. I should probably edit that. Thanks
