just picked up a yellow...

'06 SS Supercharged last night.
Stopped at the dealer to check out a GTO. Left with the Cobalt.

Bought it in Lincoln Ne. and drove all the way home to northern Indiana.
Good way to break in the motor. Plus it was a pretty nice night.

Very pleased with it so far.
Now it's time to start improving it. First up will be the exhaust and air filter.
Does anybody make a header for the 2.0 engine? I've seen one for the 2.2,
Is it the same? Not at all familiar with these engines yet.
I'm leaning towrds the Borla exhaust system right now.

Hopefully I'll be able to pick up a lot of good info here and possibley contribute some as well.

Nice buddy! Welcome to the club. Check out the 2.0 performance section. As for your header question im just not sure their out with it yet. I might be mistaken. I like the K&N and the GM performance exhaust but a hand full of ppl will tell you otherwise who knows.

Congrats on the purchase. GTO's are my favorite car.
Umm the companies that had headers for our car are sorta gone. However they have a company called vibrant that should be making a long tube header for the 2.0.

Borla is sweet but a bit pricey. I bought the magnaflow 2.5 catback for $480 shipped and I don't regret it. It sounds sweet. Try buying the injen intake first though. That will make music to your ears, trust me.

i'm just trying to absorb all of the info right now.
I traded in my 05 Dodge 3500 dually for the cobalt.
Got a pretty good deal. Really wanted something I could tinker with without breaking the bank. This thing fits the bill perfectly. And it's a lot of fun to drive!!!
I test drove a black one with LSd in it, but it had 400 miles on it, all test drives!!

I thought the yellow just looked better to me. I'll tint the windows and de-badge the rear deck this weekend. Probably leave the front bow-tie so I don't have to mess with the mountimg holes.

The dealer had already installed the front plate bracket. Indiana doesn't use front plates so I'll have to address that issue soon. I hate to put a vanity plate on there. But the holes would look really bad.

The license plate thing sucks. Mine came from Chicago so it had that bracket on it too. I took it off. Looks fine with my black car though. You could get some touch up paint and some round cap bolts. Paint the round cap bolt heads and install them in the holes.
