KBB Value???

Whats up with the KBB value of Cobalts?

have an 06 SS with only 23K on the clock but only $11900 for trade-in value. Wow did this car make me up side down. I thought my Stratus R/T was bad sheesh.

Cobalts are used ALOT as rentals and what not. The same goes with 04+ grand prix's. I know that alone drives down the value alot.

You must have a 2.4L SS... my trade in value (2006 SS/SC 14,000mi) is only a bit less than what I paid for the car in the first place.

I've seen the SS/SC's at the used car dealers... they're asking $20,000 for some of them... I paid about that brand new.

Their price has nothing to do with the trade in value. An '06 is worth basically 13k trade in. They will sell them from 16-20k.

Hopeful much! I could get you an '06 Redline with 8,800 miles for less than 15k from a dealer. Your '04 trade in is worth 9,000-11,500.

I would never trade it in so i can really care less if i got that much. If someone walked up to me with 10K i'd hand them the keys

If that even - maybe more like 11K.

Yeah, they are hit hard....really low.

Trade-in is usually based off of a composite of auction values, and retail-average recon-pack-profit.

KBB value, and actual value (what someone will pay you for it) are pretty different on these cars. people wont pay you 17K for a used ss s/c. especially a modded one.

Whoa... whoa... I've had two different dealerships give me full KBB value for trades.

Did you even bother to read the title of this thread? It does say KBB right in it.

Most dealers don't use Kelly's Blue Book. They use Kelly's BLACK Book. And thats if they don't use strictly NADA values.

I understand where your coming from, but I had dozens of people tell me the same thing. It's my job to make you change your mind. I'm not saying that everyone did. Most of the time we would come to a compromise.

I've also been in situations where Kelly Blue Book was under my other resources. In that case of course... I have no problem going with KBB.

In any case, most resources give a bid for a vehicle in AVERAGE condition. On the cover of the NADA manual it specifically says that 'A vehicle which has been reconditioned or bares a warranty should bring more than the value in the book'. So spit that back at them when they give you a bid thats too low.

Also. Give the guy bidding your car something he can sell. If you make him confident he won't have problems selling your car then he'll be more inclined to make you happy.

And let me guess.......you checked all of the options that are on your car. Dealers don't care....plus base value already includes all standard options on car. Only value added options are Roof and Airbags that's about it. There is nothing else worth considering, and most other options are already included.

KBB on my car ranges from 14,500 (for poor condition) to 17,800 (for excellent), but it pays to have good friends that sell cars and work at dealerships!

My trade-in value is like 12-13k, bought it used for 17000

the ss/sc is still like 18k, new its what 22000? has about the same drop in price

dealerships wont give you the kbb though, carmax however gives pretty good trade in value

sidestory, theres this SS/SC at carmax, selling for 17800, and its about to get moved off the lot since its been there for months, pisses me off cause its impossible for me to trade up without getting slammed

say they give me 12k for my car, still owe 16k, theyd stack that 17800 with 4k and add another 1500 for ttl

23500ish, OUCH

anyway my point is depreciation sucks, just gonna wait it out for the next gen ss

I know the first time i heard of a cobalt, we had gotten it as a rental in FL. Was a sedan but still pretty nice.
