Large pad underneath hood

Anyone removed this thing? What purpose does it actually serve? Its causing the top of my cone filter to be al little smashed and I wanted to remove it but before I do I wanted to see if its important.

i think he means the one on the hood...just leave it on, if its hitting your intake, than ur intake is not installed right, go back and re read instructions and do it over....

only thing i had touching the blanker on my intake when i was n/a was the rubber sealer thing on my intake, which was suppose to touche it to seal off engine bay heat :p, aside fromt hat, i have had a custom intake, GMPP, intake jdm intake, injen intake, and the KnN intake, none had a issue with the hood blanket

when i had my cobalt i had the same problem with my injen. when it was installed as a short ram the top of the cone filter was smashing the hood blanket and it was installed correctly. but installed as a cold air it was perfect no rubbing or anything.

yea man just turn the couplers so they're facing down. and not touching the hood blanket when the hood is closed. simple as that.
