The Last Cobalt

June 23, 2010 4:02 p.m.
LORDSTOWN, Ohio -- The last Chevrolet Cobalt to be made at the General Motors Complex was driven off the assembly line at 3:35 this afternoon by autoworker Charmaine Phillips.
The car is headed for a Chevy dealership in W. Franklin, N.H., according to the plant's spokesman, Tom Mock.
In the six years since the Cobalt was launched, the GM plant has turned out 1.1 million cars.

That's pretty cool. If I was a GM bigshot I would have made the last one be a special edition SS or something like that.

Yeah, you'd think they would do something like that... But that seems to make sense. So I guess they had to rule it out.

Anyone who has a SS TC can now apply for a Classic Car Plate in certain states because of the limited production numbers and the out of production status. Rules vary from state to state.

Let me restate that. It does make a difference what TRIM LEVEL you have reguardless what somebody tells you. Trim level is considered when classic car status is granted. My C 1500 is classic because of the TRIM LEVEL 454SS. Also if your car is highly modified you can get a collectible plate in Pa. reguardless of year. Ive done both.

That's absolutely false. I really hope he was kidding with that post. You cannot register any Cobalt with a classic, antique, or collectible plate. To suggest otherwise is utterly absurd.

A lot of states simply have antique plates, not classic. The states that do have classic plates still at least require the car to be a certain age (minimum I've seen is 15 years). To top that off, most require that the car not be daily driven. Just like antique plates, it must be driven only to shows and exhibitions.

yea, kinda wish they've of kept the cobalt exterior and just updated the interior.

the Cobalt was GM's first step towards making a American 4banger we'd all actually want to drive.

Classic may be 15 years. But collectible can be any year which is modified. In Pa you need form MV 426-B Follow the instructions closely and take good pictures. Heres the link

Pontiac's last car didn't even get that much attention, and it was an entire brand!
