Looking for a DD to go with s/c or t/c
Before the flaming starts I'll start by sayin I'm not going to go heavy modding on the car. The car will be to drive around to keep the miles of my Wrx. I'm looking for another boosted car to have fun in. I was looking into a s/c cause they can be bought fairy cheep now days. Is it worth the extra couple thousand for the t/c? Is the ride quality much better in the t/c compared to the s/c? Will I be disappointed if I go with the s/c for the fact I am used to a turbo?
It depends what you have done to the wrx when it comes to how you'll feel. I have a friend who has a new one with cobb intake/exhaust and tune. He pulled my stock SC from a roll about 2 cars or so. He's not the best driver in the world though. They're pretty fun cars.
There's a guy on here with a WRX as his winter beater and another with a EVO X that have the cobalt as the faster car. Spend more on the SS/TC just do a DP intake and tune and have fun, it'll be reliable with about 300 to the wheels and 350 ft lbs of torque to the wheels.
Right now my wrx is bone stock. How does a tune worm with these cars? Is it an email tune and I road test it and send to a tuner and he sends me more data? Or do I need to take it somewhere?
It depends. If you have HP tuners you can work it that way. You get a tune. Log a bit, send it to the tuner then he'll update, back and forth. If not it's usually easiest to find someone around you with it and meet up with them to tune it. Like andrew said above, a DP, and intake on the TC will net you around 300 with a tune. For the sc, a 2.8" pulley, injectors and supporting cooling mods and a tune will get you around 250 or so.
I just bought HP tuners. It costs a pretty penny at $600. If you only plan on tuning once or twice then I'd find someone close to you. If you plan on tuning and working on it often,
If you have no problem spending the extra 5-6k on the TC, get one. If you think it's too much to spend on a car you're just wanting to have to keep miles off your WRX, get an SC'd one.
Ride is probably the same, only thing I'd say you are losing is the seats, but just look for the G85 package with recaros.
Bolt ons and a tune on the SS/SC will be faster than a stock WRX. A tuned WRX will be faster.

How much are you looking to spend?
Downpipe, intake, charge piping, and intercooler are LNF bolt-ons.

Yea I now paintballer is a few hours away. Thought he sold his car last year? So you looking probably around 14k for a Bolt on LNF and probably like 9k for a bolt on LSJ all said and done? Just trying to weigh my options
Don't waste money on a most likely bagged on or POS sc. Same goes for the tc. You have a wrx so drive it, keeping the miles off a wrx ain't gonna do **** for it, they are meant to drive. Even if you had an sti, unless it was a big turbo race machine you should just drive it. A cobalt will be a very much less enjoyable dd than a wrx.
